You seem to be proving my point, Massively. There are other personal aboard the ship. The combat team doesn't need to concern itself with keeping the ship running. There's an entire crew to do that.
And who's to say those members of the combat team don't also have a role to play aboard the ship? That's how naval vessels operate. All crewmen, including the members of the shore/away/combat team all have other duties aboard the vessel. Kaidan is a member of the command staff on the ship and he's doing something in the life support area. Tali is working in Engineering. Garrus is doing something with the Mako (he might even be the technician and mechanic for it). Ashley is managing the armory. Shepard is managing the ship. Wrex is the only one not really doing anything. Regardless, where are they going to train? The ship is too small, and too populated, and too expensive, and too vital to conduct any kind of real training simulations anywhere. Meanwhile, I'm going to make Liara useful too. She has to earn her keep somehow aboard the ship. I'm not taking an untrained neophyte civilian with me on missions, so there's no chance Liara is going to get any practical field experience. So really, how is Liara supposed to get these combat skills?

Uh, yes. Or were all of those cutscenes in LotSB a figment of my imagination? Liara is competent with weapons. There's no debate.Br3ad wrote...
No. Just no.David7204 wrote...
Lore trumps gameplay. And Liara is shown to be competent with weapons, and even generally prefer them to biotics in cutscenes.
Technically, we never see her actually use them. Regardless, the question is how did she become so proficient?
I blame inconsistent writing.

Massively, you still seem unable to grasp the simple premise that what 'you' do doesn't matter. Because Shepard let's Liara aboard the ship no matter what 'you' would do. Hugs her on Illium no matter what 'you' would do. Dives for her on the Broker's ship no matter what 'you' would do. Recruits her on Mars no matter what 'you' would do.
I don't know why you're bringing this up. I'm not saying anything about those, nor have I said anything in the last several pages about these.
If you have to bring up other points from other arguments to support this argument against me (after I deconstructed your argument) then you really don't have much of a grasp of narrative flow. Or social graces.
Are you a woman David? You did what an ex-girlfriend of my friend used to do: Everytime he put up a valid argument against her points, she brought up several old arguments against him in an effort to change the argument.
That's not how argument works, lad.
By the way, I have two counters to two of your points.
1. Liara doesn't always hug Shepard.
2. Shepard can't dive for Liara if he doesn't do LotSB.
The other points I don't contest, nor did I ever contest. So those points are dismissed as strawman's.

And just for fun, let's see how long it takes for someone to make an utterly moronic comment about how I will supposedly 'just change it back' regardless of the many times I've very paitently explained why that's a stupid excuse.

Instead of outright stopping a Reaper, I'm more curious if Jack can protect people from a Reaper blast (even if it's just one blast and she's taxed afterwards).
I'd say not.
I think biotics are cool, but I really don't want to see any of them, no matter how powerful, doing stuff like that.

If it's like the shots in the beam run, possibly. If we're talking the more powerful than hiroshima bomb main gun, then absolutely not.

ME 1 doesn't have any combat cutscenes for any character. So there's really no telling who has what level of skill. As I've said, gameplay is not indicative. (And before people start whining, that's true for nearly all games.)

Never was sure about Wrex's biotics. He did beat a Thresher maw back in the day, so he's pretty damn good. Battlemasters are just as known for their leadership and ruthless tactics as well. Not just for being vanguards. It's one reason why Grunt gives you the title, regardless of class.

In the first four minutes of the first mission, there's a cutscene showing NPC combat.
