I'm not referring to the character's origin. It's already been confirmed that the protagonist survives the events of a Veil tear and is the first Inquisitor in a thousand-something years. What are your theories to how you revive a long dead order? I doubt it will be as simple as donning an heralded armor and announcing to Thedas " I am the inquisitor".

You probably need to quest to find a sword, maybe a Master Sword... Wait wrong series. I am actually wondering what the behind this will be.

although this why I agree with the theory that originally the inquisitor was supposed to be Hawke.

Why not? That's how most things get started. Get enough guys to swear fealty and you can say "I am the King", wear a cowl and beat up some bad guys - "I'm Batman".

The first half of the game is a big Thedas reality show where you compete for the tittle?

Sorry feeling a bit silly. I am interested to see how it all works out. Hawke and the Warden both just sort of stumbled and fell into their roles by default. It'd be nice if there was a bit more to it this time.

Actually I figured that's pretty much exactly what goes down.

"Guys! There's a tear in the--" (Go away we're hunting mages)
"Help! The Veil is--" [Go away we're summoning demons to kill templars]
"We have to do something about'' {Go away we're busy hiding in the church pretending this war isn't happening}
"FINE SCREW YOU ALL I'MA DO THIS MYSELF"

Like Garrus says in ME2: "You prove that you get things done, and people join up."

Complete a few missions, close a veil tear or two, and people will look to you while the Chantry, Templars, mages, and nations all squabble amongst themselves.

The Inquisitor is the boy who lived.

That makes sense. The title would be earned not given.

Here's my theory: Cassandra has a nicely-sized group of Seekers under her command when she's interrogating Varric. These are your first recruits as Cassandra takes they to investigate the Veil tear, find you, and through the investigation you prove to be a natural leader and Cassandra defers to you (this is the weakest part of my speculation). You then use Cassandra's followers (now your followers) to secure a castle in an unstable but important region in the world and bring stability to said region. This improves your PR and people start joining up.

Here's my theory: A radioactive inquisitor bites you and you gain super inquisitor powers.

You spend your early years in west Ferelden born and raised,
Until a couple of demons who were up to no good, started making trouble in your neighborhood.

Someone performed a ritual saving the soul of the last inquisitor in a unborn baby, which has been held in status for the last 1000 years... and then magically aged.

He'll/she'll meet a man named Zuncan who recruits him/her, and then after pairing you up with another Inquisitor named Ilistair, Zuncan will die, and you'll become the leader.

And the antagonist is a balding man called Rogaine.

You were on your way home from the market when everything fell apart.

Sadly, the groceries didn't make it.

Gamermd had an interesting theory based upon one of the concept art images (we see the back of someone with a seeker's cape, followed by an elf (brunette Sera) and a Qunari (Iron Bull) in the middle of two rows of soldiers with their swords in a loyal greeting. She thinks that maybe we start out as a Seeker and after the veil tears, we turn into Inquisitors or something along those lines.

Now, I know it's been said that the Inquisition has no link to the Chantry, so although it seems like a reasonable way to go about this, I'm not really buying it right now.

This. I know we probably start out in Ferelden, like Denerim, based on what one of the devs said before, and move toward Orlais, where the veil is probably torn. So maybe there will be some huge deal that takes us there, and once there chaos ensues and our PC becomes the "chosen one". I hope this isn't it, but right now, it seems like one of the most probable theories I've heard so far.

I sincerely hope there's more to how we become the Inquisitor than chance.
