I mean the more I think about it the more silly it is for any nation/organitaions to hand over any sort of power to a long dead group. Hell they hardly want to give any support to the Wardens until a blight hits. So it would have to be the Inquisitor making some of dramatic demand and can't be someone else saying 'We need you to lead'.

You are assuming anyone in Thedas just hands over power to the Inquistion. Last I check, we will be focing people to acknowledge the authority of the Inquistion, one way or another.

Somehow we will aquire an army (prehaps the Seekers join early on which would explain Cassandra's presence) and from there its up to us, the player, to decide how and where to expand the Inquistion's influence.
Since the player character is present when the viel rips open, he may be seen by others as the one with the best understand of whats going on. Or prehaps its only the player who has the will to doing something about it. Thedas is in quite a mess by the time the game starts.

Perhaps in the early portion of the game, we stumble across an abandoned/overrun castle and take it for our own?  Start telling people it's safe there, so they start coming over and bringing their skills with them.  Merchants surviving raids, survivors from battles, that kind of thing.

Hmm but who do you think has the means, the authority to bring back the Inquisitor after the very thing that forced them to dissolve into 2 separate factions was nulled but Lord Lambert the head seeker in a lettermore specially this except.

Most Holy

In the twentieth year of the Divine Age, the Nevarran Accord was signed. The Seekers of Truth lowered our banner and agreed to serve as the Chantry’s right hand, and together we created the Circle of magi. With the Circle no more, I hereby declare the Accord null and void. Neither the Seekers of Truth nor the Templar Order recognize Chantry authority, and instead we will perform the Maker’s work as it was meant to be done, as we see fit.

Signed this day on the fortieth year of the Dragon Age,

Lord Seeker Lambert van Reeves

It would be divine justina after Lambert broke the Neverran Accord the very thing that stopped them in the first place, But this doesn't mean we work for her it's just that she has the most reason to grant authority to us to bring it back for a number of reasons and give the authority to do whatever we want aslong as the veil breaches are fixed and the main antagonist is brought to justice.

As various people mentioned we are probably seen as the last best hope to restore order and something else happens that makes everyone believe that we are the best choice to do this because of what we saw and what we endured also what happens if we are involved in saving a number of people after the veil rips open and where it might occur, where Cassandra stabbed them map and what major forces are in that area.

Also think about the first companions we saw in action the grey warden, the elf, Viveane the Mage who was supposed to take over the fortress in the area, where Loghain was sent, and probably where the Architect attacked.

The area of the map she stabbed is near Verchiel which is a town on the imperial highway east of the grey warden fortress  called Montsimmard which is where Viveane was supposed to take over as the first enchantor, where Loghain was sent, where Duncan and Rioridan were stationed, where the old grey warden will be from, where Kristoph was the Commander was, where the Orlesian Warden Commander is stationed at, where Cassandra is probably attacking, east of Adamant Fortress which is over run by demons and has the thinnest veil, was one of the places marked on the map in the demo, near the narshan marshes and very small town named Velun is in between the 2 grey warden fortresses.

Demons are pouring out of the sky the battle taking place near by stalls and becomes a fight for survival and who do you think should be the one to save as many as we can an push towards to s Val Royeaux and might stumble into an interesting place being sieged.

How would the inquisitor become the inquisitor? Why, unexpectedly, of course.

That was my whole point, the inquisition isnt going to be formed by anyone out side it. Only thing that makes sense if the PC knows of it say 'Damnit! We're starting this and they can all lick my boots!' paraphrasing of corse. :)

He'll/she'll meet a man named Zuncan who recruits him/her, and then after pairing you up with another Inquisitor named Ilistair, Zuncan will die, and you'll become the leader.

And the antagonist is a balding man called Rogaine.

And your first mage companion will be a barely-dressed Witch of the Wilds named Whoriggan.

She won't. It will be Morrigan instead.

I'd be surprised if she was, but I get the feeling she may be a bit more involved than she was in previous games.
