I'm not a multiplayer person myself. But as long as it's optional and cannot affect the single player campaign negatively, I won't complain.
Multiplayer, do you want it or not? Maybe even PvP

After being so positively surprised by the ME3 multiplayer... yes, I want it!
Not so into PvP, but I guess I wouldn't complain if there was a co-op mode also. Taking down a High Dragon as a team or playing King of the Hill with some friends against darkspawn... damn, that'd be awesome.

They could make it a strategy battle based on SP, You get to control an army based on the inquisition you built in SP and go to war against other inqusitions in a skirmish type battle .... some how I highly doubt theyd go with this route

yes I even posted ideas
If MP is added as a separate mode, I would like it to in the vein of ME3's MP but taken to the extreme, more fleshed out, and done correctly. EX)
MAPS:
Maps would be as large as Fire base Hydra, but DAO/ DA2 styled. It would be great if the details of the environments could be on par with Kingdoms of Amalur or Uncharted 3, but DA themed. That's the scope of detail and size the MP maps should be. The environments should have strategic points that Archers, Mages, Warriors and Rogues and take advantage of. Narrow pathways that funnel people for Rogues and warriors, Hills and cliffs for Archers and Mages, flat areas for all out brawls, etc. There should be environmental dangers that are timed, triggered(Via Traps) or random(Via Environmental) and make stages feel alive. Ex) Lava flow, Wild fires and man made ones, river flood, quick sand, pits, traps, Rock Slides while on mountains.
Location: These maps would take place all over Thedas at famous/Key/ Iconic locations
This means, they can be in the wilderness(Forrest), Cities(In a town(Wither high class or low class), in castles, villages, In taverns!), at ports, (Via Docks), Caves( Deep Roads, Ozammar, Wounded Coast...), On a ship (If they add ship battles(It would be a much smaller map) or The Fade (This can have a randomizing element to it. Be it everytime you get on the stage it's different (As in DA2 maps when some room is missing but it's clearly the same location or in intervals the stage changes. Weather it blinks and your somewhere else or the stage has moving parts, etc. This would be the one stage where strategy is thrown out the window.)
Weather: Each stage can have a random Weather particle generator so all maps stay fresh and each time a stage is loaded, the weather is different(But also depends on environment location. Cant have rain and snow in Ozammar...)
While playing MP, you can DM(Death Match) with a team of friends( You and 3 others fight against other teams of Player controlled characters)
Co-Op: You and a team of PC (Or other players) fight against a common enemy. (This will be theme based. This can be, Dark Spawn, Demons, Bandits( Rogues), Mages, Templars, Armys(Mixed batch of all classes), and Bosses( This will consist of golems, Arch Demons, Dragons, Ogers, etc. This can be broken down 1 step further and go by race as well. Ex) Fighting Elves would consist of fighting in the forest or alienages and maybe have stat bonuses for fighting in home territories. Ex) Hit accuracy drops to all that aren't elves while in forest when fighting elves due to camoflauge, Dwarves get bonus to Strength when fighting in Ozammar from feeling one with The Stone, etc.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stats: All characters can have stats like ME3's MP where you allocate points into your character
Store: The store can have armor you can buy to add some kind of bonus on top of your stats after you earn enough money. Ex) You as a player can play all modes, with the exception of Bosses Mode, where you are required/ encouraged to buy better armor so you wont die as easy. Armor may give +50 to fire resistance while fighting Dragons, Arch Demons, etc. Armor might give a small regen ability to Health or Mana/ Stanima. Store armor can just add bonus stats or be cosmetic. Unlike ME3, the store will have packs that you can buy that give you what you want. If you want to buy a bundle of potions, just purchase potions. They will just have to streamline the potion system in MP. Ex) Just like ME3's Direction pad that has 4 items, DA3 will also have it. One direction can have Health, Stanima/ Mana, Revives, and a Buffs Potions spot depending on the buff potion you equip.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If they Add Co-Op to the SP portion of the game, it would be drop in and drop out Co-op that is only available during big fights( Which means your at a certain part of the game and you can choose to play with someone online for the fight or go solo via promp on screen as you reach the part where a major fight comes up.) Thats one way to handle it. Think RE5(Resident Evil 5's co-op, but simpler)
The other way to handle it and would be the most feasable, is Co-Op Offline only. This is in the vein of Tales Of series. You can have a person/s plug in a controller to help you every fight as one of your party members. This means, you make all decisions and control all conversations during the story, but everytime a battle comes up, you can have them take over an AI controlled character. You can also have them run around the map with you in town, etc. This means if you previously needed to pause and make decisions in DAO or DA2, you will no longer need to since they(yr friends) can make split sec decisions you normally would have to make. This would allow Bioware to make an even more unforgiving AI for you to fight with better strategies.
===================
Personal Note:
This is just my ideas on the subject of MP and Co-op. I felt Co-Op was the best part of ME3. I had no desire to replay the story, but the Co-OP makes me return regularly despite the insane load times. They had a separate team make the co-op which didn't effect the SP. I believe Bioware can have a separate team make the MP and Co-OP of DA3 as well and draw in old and new fans alike. Even though my main concern in th e SP for DA3, I want MP/Co-Op for DA3. I hope there can finally be a MP that isn't a shooter that becomes popular. If Bioware is brave, they can do it. They're even changing up engines and trying something new for DA3!
===================
I had a thought though not sure if I stated it here. There should also be a Mount battle mode. It would let a team of lets say 4 vs 4 or 8 vs 8 go head to head on mounts as 2 or 3 opposing forces(Depending on max no. of people). Wither it be land or flying mounts. It could be jousting to knock other off mount in hopes of killing them or dismounting to later finish them off while they frantically run around trying not to get ran over. There can also be a defending mechanic for when someone jumps from their mount to yours and you must fend off their attack to stay on. If you fail you loose mount, if you win, they get knocked back to their mount if quick in their inputs to remount or risk falling to the ground. If you dismount, you get to use that mount for the rest of the match or go back to original mount and offer captured mount to allies. Mounts can have a set of specialized attacks depending on type and users have a standardized set of attacks while on mounts depending on class.
There can be the DM ver of Mount Battles (Joust)
TDM ver (Team Joust, though its more like chaos on mounts since it will be an open field of nonsense: There can also be team attack specials when 2 or more people with mounts are close to an stranded enemy from his/her party)
Race version: This mode would only be to earn more Money. This can be on placing bets as well as racing. If you are in the race, you can bet you will win and earn a bonus at the end of the round if you come in 1st. During the races, you can have friends in the stands setting traps(Rogue), Casting spells(Mage), Breaking parts of the course or taking swings at you(Warrior). My point is, this wont be a normal race, but a DA flavored one. This mode could have 3 sep parties of 4, so the stands look nice and full and create chaos both in race and outside of it! Then weather can effect course as well on top of everything! The point of the mode again is earning money and if teams are betting money on 1 person from their group(They would be chosen in random order allowing each person to race 1 time, but not ness based on what slot they are in on team.) As a person is chosen, bets are made and team tries their best to put odds in their favor. Individuals can bet on their teams wining or loosing. If you bet they win but dont, you lose money, but if you bet they win and they do, you gain money. If you bet they loose and they win however, you gain nothing and your winning are spread to your team. Money earned in this mode will only go towards getting items in shop like better mounting equipment: Applies to Mounts Mode and not just racing (Saddles with stat boost, colors, type of mounts(More expensive based on mount), Custom weapons to take into battle(Mages would have a default staff with maybe 1 spell. Earn more and get better staff with more powerful spell or multiple spells, earn mount attacks, earn taunt animations, etc)
================================
What if they also include a tabletop style MP mode with the others I mentioned? What I mean is, have a built in table top game where you and 3 others roleplay and try to beat a scenario. Like: We must go to the Wounded Coast and defeat a group of bandits. These bandits stole the cup of Andraste. We all roleplay a class and choose lines DA style from a group of responses given to us to weave a tale and find out if we win the game or loose. This is an example, but think Tabletop when they play board game RPGs. Bioware even has one, but this would be DAI specific. It could have serious or humorous responses for each player to choose from and also have an expert mode where you use your voices only to form a tale, but provide the board (AKA board or Random gen level based on RPG story selected. Swamp, Forest, mountains etc) This would be an entirely different MP that even those against it could try out and love. It would be roleplaying and not a modded shooter and add our own adventures and get DA fans to want to join up.
If DA team adds all the modes I wrote here, we'd have the best MP/Co-op/ VG Board RPG possible in DAI, IMO of course.

@ Darth Brotarian
I would rather the MP classes have access to the same number of trees, and specializations as SP, but have a limit to the number of powers the players can slot into battles.
Say the Tevinter class you mentioned, let him have access to the same amount of magic schools as other Mages; maybe a unique specialization of "Magister"; but only let the player have three active spells at a time in the game. That way we could avoid the issues of overlapping classes, as well as providing much needed variety if the entire multiplayer party is comprised of Tevinter Mages.

Provided it does not impact single player in the slightest. Not even cosmetically and certainly not limiting content. Even then, I am somewhat skeptical of Bioware balancing all three classes well. DA:O and, to a lesser extent, DA2 had problems there.

At one time in my life I thought multi-player games were the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Now, not so much. Me personally, if I felt the need for multi-player hack'n'slash I would play War of the Roses, or War of the Vikings, games that were designed for that kind of thing which give you a greater amount of control over your avatar during combat.
If it didn't impinge on the single-player game at all, I suppose multi-player might be ok, but for me it would certainly not be a consideration for buying the game.

Apologies if already brought up but what about Co-op story mode like Dead Space 3(doesn't even have to be about main characters - or Relate to the main story; could be set in Andrastian times ect) or maybe add a borderlands element were a few others may join your campaign but the game becomes increasingly harder?

Another thing that comes to mind, if they do do it, DO NOT DO RANDOM SHOP PURCHASES!... That killed Multiplayer for me, I seriously loath that randomizing of items from pack purchases, INFURIATING!

I don't know. As long as it doesn't negatively impact a single player story experience then I would probably be in support of it. I don't want any of this if you play multiplayer you get a better ending crap.

I just don't understand why some games force MP into the SP campaign. The MPers will play MP for MP, not SP, and the SPers won't want MP in their SP. If that makes any sense. I'd very much like it too be nice and separated from the single player campaign so I don't have to even pretend it exists.

While I loved the multiplayer in ME3, ME3's game play style suited multiplayer a lot more than DA's. Guns and space magic plays out a lot faster than the more traditional sword and sorcery RPG style of DA.

The only way I can imagine MMO in DAI is that we'll have the ability to create our own keeps, complete with traps and troops and defend it from invading players and vice-versa
Maybe have a way to create alliances with other players to establish some sort of trade.

Wouldn't that mean Bio'd have to rejigger the SP side so it earns the microtransaction revenue that the MP side makes now? It's not like the budget for a project stays the same when a bunch of the projected revenue goes away.
