I would have posted this on the Origin forums, but I decided to put it here since this is where all the cool kids hang out now.

Sorry guys my computer is acting up :( It keeps linking the video I wanna put up to the social site for some odd reason. Anyway Biowares canon Grey Warden is a female Dalish Elf. So...what happened to Malcolm Cousland? You know the Warden from The Calling and Sacred Ashes trailers.

Edit: Also check out the link I put in the comments. I'd put it up here but for some reason it won't let me. Anyway, i'm sure my fellow Dragon Age fans will love it.

He fell on hard times after losing his job. You might find him if you head over to Edmonton. Give him a sandwich.

Luckily bioware stepped away from the grunt, short haired, white human for once.

He died, probably, like other Couslands
I'm glad they picked female Dalish warden as a default. If only they didn't kill her, though...

He looks about as much like a Cousland as a hurlock does. Glad they scrapped him.

Well the non-chosen-by the player potential wardens dies in their origin because Duncan is not there. So he died.

I think people put way too much stock into what Bioware says is the 'default', which switches from game to game.

He died fighting darkspawn. It was his Calling, after all.

The Sacred Ashes trailer was just a dying hallucination as he bled out in the Deep Roads.

The warden in the cinematic trailers was the creation of blur studios. note that the game did not have the hair style nor that tattoo without being modded.

I guess you could say that he was blur studios' cannon story, not biowares.

I am glad that Bioware chose a non human for the 'alternate' or book cannon.

So what is the canon for Awakening or the DLC if the player chooses not to import a save and play as the Orlesian Warden? I know DA2 offered players who chose not to import a save a choice between 3 backgrounds and the Martyr background that they use as canon for the comics and books was one of them. Not sure if they plan to do such a thing for Inquisition but with the introduction of the Keep that allows the players to create, customize and share their world states online I am sure that even if somebody chooses not to create a world state will still have plenty of options to choose from.

That being said I still find it hard to believe that Bioware had always planned to have the Ultimate Sacrifice as part of their chosen canon, I mean out of all the possible plot threads left hanging the Dark Ritual was by far the most interesting and I find it hard to believe that as far as their original canon is concerned they have nothing planned for it. Was the Dark Ritual only ever put in Origins to give some players an easy way out (just like many of the choices in Origins) in case they couldn't stand to see the Warden or one of his companions die? Or did they originally have something bigger planned for it that needed to be scrapped in order to account for player choice?

IIRC, Orlesian Warden is canon if Warden is not imported into Awakening (if you don't do Awakening, you simply do not witness OW's story).

As for DR, it was added in pretty late development's stage as a chance to let players save their PC. Or so I hear.
