OP, all I read were reasons why YOU struggle with the Krogan. seems they don't suit your playstyle. mind you, I struggle with Krogan at times for all the reasons you mentioned, but I've seen ppl DESTROY with them on plat in lobbies of skilled players running other OP kits. one of them has already posted in this thread...

I don't think there's a "worst" kit. for every one that gets mentioned, I can think of at least two ppl that have mastered it. sure there's "popular and unpopular" kits, but none are really that awful.

I would say that at least two people of have mastered it even amongst all the bnsers is an indication that many have not.  Sure we have the LGaunts running around with the venom or some others who stay away from trouble with the inferno nades.  The point is not that the race is unplayable as we know the best players can take any race and any weapon and look good.  The point is vs other races the Krogans strengths on the whole do not make up for the weakness.

Krogan with full shields and health, scion shot, down to full health.
Volus with tull shields and health, scion shot, down to full health.

Is the above not correct or do i misunderstand the gates?

What about Batarians then? They pretty much suffer from everything the Krogan does in this game, but they don't have a Rage mechanic to keep them going in the fray.

Based on OP's thoughts, Batarians would be the worst race in the game.

WRAHAHAHAHA,

Real Krogan don't fight alongside pyjaks, fool. We've only send those worthless brain-death mental and physically disabled pups away to ensure their pathetic genes won't weaken our glorious race. Even the Maws refused to eat them when we tried to scarifies the lot.

Something for head-shots (Pick your weapon)
Firebased ammo (Or tech... or w/e floats your boat)
Grenades (Full dmg, plus an equip that boosts how many you carry//weapon dmg)
Carnage.
Lots of flame bursts when need be (groups, spawns, bosses)
Agility equip. (you don't need to roll around the map like a tumble weed if you know where you're going and when to dodge, you may take the odd bullet here and there even in cover when your hump sticks out so far, but that's what the extra health is for; soaking up the odd one of those)

Will not lag on scoreboard.
(At least I haven't. Other maps are questionable but that's only in part due to me not knowing where the spawns are via other maps. Plus I can't really play plat on any character let alone a krogan. At least not if there's a ton of carrying being done by the other players.)

Krogans aren't supposed to be an invincible tank; you're supposed to play them like you play them all other species. Tactfully.

Thats the problem they are supposed to be a tank, why do they have way more shields and health than other races?  Other than the inferno, carnage spam what do they have going for them tactically?   If you have a race that is built to be a tank to melee and be an up close shot gun fighter and you can make them work by staying away from trouble and tossing nades is that the krogan way?

That's because Maws only go after things that cannot threaten them.

Batarians have racial bonus for weapon damage and ammo capacity, they also have smaller hit boxes and are more mobile.

I maintain that you're still evaluating the Krogan from the standpoint of your style preferences. you've implied that you're not a "in your face" type of player. truth be told, the Krogan are at their sparkling best when played this way. yes the gate system can make this high risk sometimes, but the reward.... for instance: try rushing TOWARDS a spawn of mooks spamming a couple inferno grenades instead of using them to "stay away from trouble". follow up with your weapon of choice, (incendiary ammo equipped ;) and you'll be well rewarded.

I fight my own instincts to play them this way, trust me! I prefer agile, evasive casters overall. but (and Leland will remember this), two weeks ago we taught a BSNer who had really never played Krogan the ways of the Krosent. she slapped on the Wraith, rushed into the fray, and the rest was pure carnage. she's giving me a run for my money on platinum now with that kit.

I attribute her success to the Krogan's strengths outweighing their weaknesses on the whole Image IPB

Their tactic is aim & destroy. You could even leave out the aiming part.
Who needs a dodge or something fancy like that when you can just eradicate everything that's in front of you?
Who would want to stay behind when you can just charge right in there and murder the crap out of everything?
I cringe everytime I see a Krogan with something else than a Shotgun, that just means they're not real Krogan.
Krogan don't snipe, Krogan don't hang back, Krogan are not timid whatsoever.

I admit that it's rare to see a good Krogan player, but that's more due to people being bad at being Krogan than due to the Krogan being bad. It's not their fault that people don't understand their greatness.

Pretty much this.
A real krogan is a murder train with no brakes.
It may get derailed occasionaly, but that's what your krantt is for.

by a lot, and it grieves me to say so because I like them.

Against one faction they do pretty well against the other three not well compared to other races.

- Huge health and shields which can still be one or two shotted against enemy bosses.
- Virtually no mobility at all.
- Huge hit boxes, where other classes can dance around sync killers as soon as you are in range your toast.
- Suffer from the melee build scenario of having to choose from health and shileds or melee damage.
- Rage mechanic that comes into play not often enough  (as in you get into rage by killing stuff but then you have to hunt down other enemies and by that time rage can subside, not too mention it makes some maps like fbwhite blizzard pretty awful to play.)

Now before we get the old l2p, if played in pug by a good player then yes they will do better than the avg public player but stick 4 good players in a match, one krogan and the other 3 anything they wish and I'm betting you'll lag on the score board.

In conclusion, their high shields and health do not make up for increased sync kill danger and general danger of being an up close fighter.

I totally disagree on that part. The krogan soldier is a top scorer whatever the difficulty / ennemy (inferno + carnage...), and I have already toped the scoreboard with the adept and the sentinel in platinum (which I only play with above the average friends).

............topping the scoreboard with a character does not = that character being good automatically. That goes for anything in general and not just Krogan which some people may consider "bad".

The rage build is a good fall back for when you're in sticky situations.

Also grenades and krogan go hand in hand. Tell me of a krogan who doesn't enjoy explosions?

Plus Cover doesn't have to be far from your targets.
Rushing in blindly isn't tactful. But that doesn't mean stay on the other side of the map either!
I'm just saying; Use cover when it's dire to. There is this thing called; Staying alive...

There were not many female character depictions in the game so it might be hard for players to understand a side of the krogan that isn't 'Up in your face'. I like to think they've adapted to their lifestyle situation.
And the way I play-- I pretend relates to the way a female-krogan might behave. (Not through only brute force but through calculation that relies on that strength as a fall back)

Krogan look so un-Krogan of they use anything other than a Shotgun.

A perfect example of a wreaking machine is the Krogan Warlord, he doesn't give a damn about taking cover, or if he is surrounded by enemies. He just charges in and hits them with some magnitude. Rwahahaha!

This.

Put a power amp on any Krogan except the Shaman and watch how easy it is to score a crapload of points. The Shaman is the melee kit IMO... Not the Sentinel. The power build on the Sentinel is just too good... +110% Lift Nade and Incinerate damage, Tech armor for that 'back da F up' moment... Yes pls. (Arc Pistol power amp, power amp IV, tech armor power damage = +110% btw). The Krogan Soldier is also just as good... If not better. If any Krogan is mediocre it's the Warlord.

And on topic:
There is no such thing as a worst species, there isn't even a worst kit.
Some species/kits might not suit a particular players style, but thats not the same thing.
I still havn't got a feel for the vorcha engineer, for example.
But that doesn't make it the worst kit, there are players out there who think it's great.

- You get hit by an ATLAS rocket or shot three times by a Phantom as a Krogan and then again as Geth (not the Trooper) with the same gear and tell me who is at Health Gate...
- An admittedly slightly unfair trade-off for being able to tank damage. If a Krogan Battlemaster could roll it would be unfair to Human variants... and hilarious...
- Enemy sync kill patterns are predictable and the only ones that do pose a threat are Phantoms, which you should really be running past too frequently anyways because their mechanics are bulll**** and Banshees in which case you just need a wider arc when you are running around them so that they don't rotate to face you too quickly.
- Krogans survive fine without Rank 4/6 Health and Shields. And kill fine without Rank 4/6 Melee. It's easy to hybridise between them just not recommend given that Rage + DR Power + Melee DR + Basic Health and Shield Bonuses are plenty enough for a viable melee build.
- Rage mechanic is fine. It's a lot easier to find enemies when you know spawns (and given how long you've been playing the game I'm surprised you don't... or at least that's the impression I'm getting from reading this point...) If you go 30 seconds without bludgeoning a Nemesis to death with a Warhammer then you deserve to lose Rage.

There are a lot worse classes out there than the Krogans. The most obvious of which in my eyes are the Vorcha. Health Regeneration doesn't help as much as DR or speed or bonus shields and it's a lot more difficult to keep Bloodlust going. Plus with the intro of the Trooper the Vorcha Flamer build is sub-par and they have nothing else going for them. The only Vorcha I play is my Vorcha Sentinel which a hybrid of Melee, Flamer, Fire Explosions and Headshotting. You know... for lulz.

As for  the "what else have they got going for them"

Krogan Shaman
- Melee
- Bio'Splosions
- Barrier only (for the lulz)
- Lifting Shockwave + Bat Gauntlet (for the lulz)
- Weapons Platform (moreso if you use Warp or Incendiary Ammo)

Krogan Soldier
- Melee
- Inferno Grenades
- Fire Explosions
- Weapons Platform

Krogan Sentinel
- Melee
- Lift Grenades
- Tech Armour only (for the lulz)
- Weapons Platform (moreso if you Incendiary Cheese)

Krogan Warlord
- Melee
- Tech Armour Only (for the lulz)
- Hatesurfing (for the lulz)
- Weapons Platform

Krogan Battlemaster
- Melee
- Barrier Only (for the lulz)
- Hatesurfing
- Other Weapons Platform (moreso with the Reegar)

There is not a single thing any other kit can do that a Krogan of the same class can't also do, they may not do as well in some occasions (Krogan Soldier won't even scratch Human, Turian or Marksman Soldiers in terms of being a weapons expert) but for the most part they either keep up (grenadiering, tech/biotic explosions) or surpass (tanking, melee).

Came here expecting trolling, but OP has a valid argument. Nevertheless, the score argument has nothing to do with the kit, rather more to do with the skill level of the people you're playing with. Anyone can dominate with any kit with enough practice.

I don't know, taking Geth Primes out in 2 hits on Platinum is just so satisfying.

Melee builds are generally horrible in this game. They barely work on Gold and are total garbage on Platinum where you can't even melee half the stuff.

And the trade off between melee and health is nonsense. So I'm at great health but my melee streangh is like Volus. But hey if my melee is good, then my health is like Volus.

So kids - don't pump iron if you want to be healthy. And don't eat healthy if you want to be strong.

This would be true if Krogans didn't have all the cheese this game has to offer at their disposal - Warp, Incinerate, lolinferno Grenades. Then there's loldontcare KroGuard.
Oh, and Grenade Capacity V, of course.
In fact, the KroSol is already OP without a gun, with all that cheese he could simply throw incendiary rounds at the enemies and still destroy. You can topscore with a Predator on him - and I've played Krogans like 5 times each.
