He can work with Wraith/Claymore very well.

But he has the advantage of not having to rely on weapons to success on any difficulty because he can just headbut mooks if he on rage.

But he is the exception.

While melee GI is really powerful it won't perform so well on platinum, it can work yes, but it wouldn't be as good as it is on gold.

I must agree with this - the krolord deserves nothing less than the claymore.

But an alternative example is a Collector Captain or Marauder shooting you:

Krogan with full health and shields, still laughing.
Volus with full health and shields, bleeding out.

There is a point to large health/shields, which is against rapid fire weapons.

As much as it pains me to say, Volus are probably the weakest race.  Most Volus kits lack synergy between their powers, and they're comparatively poor weapon  platforms (which is how most run them, if not being a support kit).
If you're the least skilled player in the team, vorcha bloodlust can be harder work than rage, and it's arguably more needed for survivability than rage.  Not saying vorcha are bad kits, but as racial powers go, its mechanics get worse the higher difficulty.

Krogan racial powers aren't the best, 6th melee ego helps keep rage up, but I would say on balance, not the worst.

Soloing, yes. But in team matches, you can slap on the Disciple and Electric Hammer and keep up with those Reegar Krolords just fine, even on Platinum.

Not really. I use wraith and I do fine. I know what I can do with the reegar, I just prefer not to.

For the soldier, look at the rage and fotification bonuses. Melee bonuses for rage and melee damage for fortifiction. Or you take all the extra shields or health and then get them one shotted down by the same creatures that one shot shields on a biotic.

As for the warlord he is the worst of the bunch, so slow and so big that you are a walking sync kill and can't escape the killing 3rd shot of a sicon.

Do you have a reply concerning their passive abilities and fort?
 

Built for melee but melee is too dangerous against sync killers, also the hit box is a big issue as you can sit out multiple waves unless you play chicken.

Most other classes have passives and bonuses that complement the play style.

No. Frankly, all the Krogans are awesome. Just don't try to go full melee except warlord.
As for their playstyle, I will say health/melee is a poor choice to begin with. That is a game design problem. But that doesn't mean you have to play the Krogan in a certain way. Geth infiltrator was most likely to be the ultimate sniper, but people play him with a claymore, as a melee guy etc and be equally successful, if not more. Similarly for Krogans, they were intended to be played as melee characters by Bioware, but players make them work better in other playstyles. So adapt and play.

On Platinum. And on Gold Krogan Soldier with grenades will wipe the Shaman like nothing, assuming no Reegar cheese. 

l doubt it. My Shaman, your Krosol, U/U/G, no Reegars.

Plat I don't care, there's a lot builds that don't work well on platinum.

I use it too, but Reegar is so much better. 

Any krolord seen with the reegar should have one of his quad surgically removed.

Exactly, and that is why the krogans have melee bonuses in their builds, thus the fact that they are the worst race.  How many full melee korgans do you see running around?  Warlod and his hammer but otherwise?
