I saw her do this in one of the gameplay videos. 2 slams with a shield and the metal gate crumbled.
Seriously, this is beyond dumb. Whats even the point of having gates or walls if warriors can just do that? Every hint of belivability goes flying out the window. Logically, this move should also kill every damn enemy in the game with one click. No matter the size of the enemy. I hope this bit gets removed before the final product is out. Thedas isn`t the Marvel universe.

Yeah I think it is crap too but obviously somebody on the Dragon Age team thought it would be a good idea.

I'm pretty sure that required Cassandra to use some kind of anti-armour ability she specced into. It's no different from a mage being able to blast away the door if they have Stonefist or something. There are likely to he many ways to get through that door, and the player is obviously meant to get through it to advance the quest.

I like the ability , I think it's nice just not on a main gate.
It could be used against a locked wooden door , or a crumbling wall .

It is ridiculous that ordinary men can fight Dragons, Ogres, Brood Mothers and win. We also have characters that can throw balls of fire or summon sheets of lightning or fire that can fill a stadium. People with abilities like this are super heroes. Knocking down a gate should be a cakewalk.

Yes. Warriors don`t use magic. And why would the Quanari need explosives if everyone can just punch through gates and whatsnot anyway? Nowhere in the lore does it say that humans can punch through metal doors. In DA:O and DA2 we needed keys to get through doors that were locked.

No wonder the Keep was taken.

But we're talking about the girl who moves in heavy armor like a ninja.

Utterly deffying the laws of physics is lame. Magic is different, allthough the magic in thedas also has rules.

It's a game.

It's gameplay.

Gameplay occasionally surrenders realism for fun.

Fun is a good thing.

Magic and dragons excist in the setting. Its explained and part of the lore. Ordinary humans with zero magical abilities being able to Mary-Sue through a metal door just because it looks kewl, is way different.

It also utterly destroys the belivability of all the games. If Cassandra can do this, why can`t Alistair or Aveline smash a dragon like that? Or why can`t Hawke do the same move against the Chantry wall and tear the place down with a "common" move like that?

That was a pretty ****ty main door, it wasn't thick, it wasn't even full, sure two shield slams is a bit unrealistic, but that door wouldn't resist a single battering ram strike anyway

You're missing meta's point.

It's not that these fantastical creatures exist so realism shouldn't count for anything. It is that she sheer difference in size and strength should make any conflict between a human- no matter how well trained- and one of them completely moot. Calien and Carver's "fights" with ogres are probably the most realistic in the series.

1. Who's to say this is a common move? Maybe Cass is the only one capable of this, and maybe only if you spec her a certain way. We don't know any particulars yet.

2. Pretty sure dragons are way tougher than a metal gate, si it makes no sense, from any perspective, to think that because she can bust down a gate (that could have already been weakened for all we know, that keep seemed in bad condition) after two strikes that she should be able to one shot a dragon.

Actual knights were able to move around fairly quickly in plate armor; besides the fact that it's much lighter than most people think(the average suit of platemail is lighter than compat gear worn by modern soldiers), it's designed to be moved in and said knights are trained to move in it. They know how to move so that the armor doesn't impede them.

If you want to get rid of the door smashing, you have to get rid of all the other ridiculously strong and powerful moves the player is able to accomplish.

Who cares if players are able to break down a door... you can suspend your disbelief for everything else that goes on, but not this?

It didn't really bother me, but I'm willing to accept some stretching of reality. As somebody pointed out, I'm pretty sure certain abilities had to be taken for that to be possible as well.

Remember when people complained about the silly DA2 combat? Same thing here.
