Great info Caratinoid. Does cloak count as breaking line-of-sight according to the AI i.e. if I'm in cloak for 3 whole seconds do I simply break the lock or does it operate at a different level?

Not instantaneously, but if you cloak and move perpendicular for three seconds, you will break LOS at some point in those three seconds. Exactly when, I believe, would depend on the targeting cycle of the enemy aiming at you.

It won't work in certain situations, such as when you have been flanked by an enemy who still has LoS, or a Prime's pets have your position.

Now if only you could make it so that TestPatch doesn't crash the game if it's modified :)
Patch2.sfar (I think)...

We could drive an atlas :D

Just tested this, as long as you are in cloak enemies will not update your position when you come in LOS for the whole duration of the cloak if you stay outside of their hearing range. Coming out of cloak will trigger LOS check if postive they'll start tracking you as usual. If you cloak while in their LOS while they already got a lock on you and just step asside the idiots will be shooting at your last known location however there is a short (about 1 second) delay before they stop tracking you as you enter clock so you'll still receive those last bullets with your name on it.

Not sure if there are special units with larger hearing range but from experience, prime's drone can target you while in cloack.

He has the ability to decompile then recompile code with corrections, which is much more powerful than simple coalesced editting.

He's already fixed a few bugs... incendiary ammo, the crusader firing delay...

Patience, people, should be released somewhere in september, still needs a lot of testing, the good new is that some rather important things have been fixed, such as frame rate accuracy bugs, rubber banding issues, shockwave bugs, shadow strike bugs etc.

Caratinoid, can I propose some balance changes for enemies?

Mostly stuff like making brutes and pyros move faster, make them a little more scary?

I'd do it myself only... you know how pcc editting goes... -_^

Also, similar to some of the cabal's attacks, might it be possible to add target exceptions for swarmers to certain powers? The cabal's attacks ignore swarmers if there are other targets in the vicinity, it's probably possible to change stuff like smash to do the same.

I think he should only fix the bugs and leave the game as is. And then if he has time/will - make mods that alter things more.

Oh. My. God! :o:O:O

Wow!!!

And no pressure, all of us can wait till the end of time for this, it's gonna be worth it! :D

... Any chance it could be possible to avoid making the AI consider yourself being at your destination the exact moment you use any teleport power/dodge?

That would be awesome. For tech explosions too. Stuff like the TB bugs.

But I would be against merging balance changes to fixes. I think they should be kept separate.

Caratinoid: when I've got the Geth scanner on, ill frequently watch coll captains strafe around corners knowing exactly where I am and shooting me dead on even though they've never had LOS on me. How does that fit into this framework?

As a general rule, the patch will avoid any clearly visible balance changes unless something is clearly broken or doesn't work at all it will stay as is. The reason for this is that the patch will be compatible with non patched version so that you could play with unaware PUG's. It would be wrong to introduce new elements or modify existing ones because other people would be unaware of those changes. Nobody will notice that their shockwave is now working for example but some people might not like some of their cheese removed. We are still unsure that incendiary bugs should be removed.

That being said some small changes to enemies that would fix a certain broken aspect of their behaviour (like cannibals randomly taking off to consume some corpses while there are still players next to them) can be put on the list.

Swarmers are already on the list, they will no longer be considered for head count when casting a power or doing a BE. Right now doing a BE on a raveger will most often do no damage to ravager itself or other enemies in range if there are swarmers under it (biotic c***block). Shockwave or any other ranged attack will kill all swarmers in one cast if they are all in range.

Because they can see you. There is no concept of wall here.

IMHO incendiary cheese is clear bug and SHOULD be removed.

Aye, that's good, I wasn't sure if it was worth mentioning as the swarmers eating the target cap of powers wasn't strictly a "bug" as such.

Also, I've added Chris Schanche as a friend, as he was referencing "dragoon audio" in a thread.

A change they made caused dragoons to lose some audio (presumably sounds and dialogue unique to the dragoon) prior to retaliation launching.

This audio might still exist in the game files, and you would be the man who might be able to fix it so it plays correctly. It would only affect the host, but at least the unique audio (dragoon's yelling stuff + cracking of whips according to Chris Schanche) would be present for people who had your patch installed.

And for what it's worth... Yes, incendiary ammo should be fixed. Beneficial bug is still a bug.

Skill points glitch should also be fixed if you can track down what's causing it. Another beneficial bug which also should be removed if possible.

Can you add a direction / facing check for phantoms too? So they cannot sync kill players that are in range, but standing BEHIND the phantom? This did crop up in a bug tracking discussion thread, and wondered if we could use the same code that fixed banshee magnet hands to prevent phantoms from being able to magnet sync kill players.

You have seen more in this game than most. And the game is lesser for your departure. B)

I'm mostly playing Europa Universalis IV now. It made me re-realize how I'm a strategy gamer at heart.
