Yes, because a crossbow shooting an anchor is much more realistic that bashing a 3-inch-thick door =]

Behold BSN's brand new dead horse, everybody gets his stick !

Shooting a grappling hook up there would be better than an anchor, I am sure :)

Lets be honest, beating dead horses is the BSN's favorite passtime.

As for grappling up the wall, one wonders why this wasn't a more popular tactic in real life........ :innocent:

Its not a door, its a metal gate created to keep intruders out.

And you can fire grappling hooks from crossbows. The orcs did it at Helm`s Deep.

Why do we even need to analyze it. They never said Cassandra smashing the gate is the only, or the best way to do it. They straight up say that it's just ONE way to do it. Everyone in this thread who doesn't like the idea, doesn't have to smash gates. It's that simple.

And we all know Lord of the Rings is the paragon of realism.

If only my Dragon Age Archers could be as Acrobatic as Legolas.

Why do you even care that she smashed through the gate with 2 hits? its a video game not real life what is the problem here? are you whining just to have something to whine about?

Yes back during the second blight, and probably abandoned for a century or more. Even metal weakens.

The solution is simple and I'm pretty sure based on what was said in the video BW already know is. Take it away Oprah: " You Get an Option! You get an Option! EVERBODY GETS AN OPTION!"

I think some folks here are struggling to comprehend that the metal gate is not suppose to be easily destroyed. It's there for a reason, and that is to keep people out.

Varrics bianca seems to be powerful enough to shoot up a grappling hook. I don't seem why it can't be done.

Didn't they say the keep was already weakend and that's why she was able to do that? In that case, I think it's fine.

Why is this whining? I care about the game, the lore, the setting. i have invested alot of time into the games. All that stuff. It should be perfectly ok to question the logic of someone smashes a metal gate. The world of thedas has catapults, gunpowder, war machines. All kinds of stuff. if someone can just wack down a castle gate, is makes the entire setting take a huge hit.

Thats the point of a forum like this. To discuss a game. The good and the bad. I am pretty sure this game just might end up being the best game Bioware has ever created. Everything I see about this game seems to indicate this. And yes, I do comment alot on the good things too. But this bit here isn`t a good thing (in my opinion).

With the welcoming party taken care of, the group walks up to a hulking wrought iron gate. To infiltrate the keep, the party could circumvent its walls to find a vulnerable area to climb, discover a series of ancient tunnels that leads right to the keep, or, as in this case, use Cassandra's shatter armor ability to break down the door.

Castle gates (not doors) are often designed with "holes" so defenders can fire arrows through them or stick spears out through them.

I think the main thing is though, it's not just anyone. It's Cassandra. Variv isn't just any dwarf, he's exceptional, your Warden wasn't just any warden, he was exceptional. Fantasy series have always had characters that seem to bend the rules of logic and accomplish what no one else could. It's what seperated them from the rest and made them heroes. Be it strength of will, character or force, they've always been almost super human.

We don't know what level Cassandra was, maybe this is an end game feature, maybe it's something not readily available. There are a lot of assumptions being made about the demo that I think need far more support to really hold weight.

Like how the entire setting would take a hit if one person and three friends end an apocalyptic invasion of unstoppable diseased monsters after killing about 2,000+ of them almost singlehandedly inside of a year?

I love how a "better" solution to breaking the gate open is to climb over the wall like Adam West and Burt ****ing Ward.

Inquisitor: Hold on guys. These gates need solving using our brains, not senseless bashing.
Bad guys inside the keep: Take your time, we'll just sit down and wait for you to solve our puzzle.

20 + Approved

Theirs a difference between whining and showing legitimate concern. If showing compassive concern about what we see on an Alpha version of the game is considered whining them I am a proud whiner for wanting the game to be the best... possibly be 2014 best RPG game.

I agree to everything else you said bro :)

Let's whine until our hearts shows content, and help make this game to be the perfect RPG game of the year.

Well, climbing over the wall doesn`t alert your enemies. Smashing the door down makes noise. Still, they did say we could use stealth to get inside castles to. Hmm I wonder if its possible to bluff ourway into places.

Don't kid yourself, that door was clearly not designed with that in mand

You know it's not a though door when you can see through it

Funny thing is that Mr. Laidlaw said in that same video that you could enter the keep by going through tunels or around the back of the keep or then "knock" the gate with Cass.
But people seem to love ****ing and ignoring the complete fact that bash the gate to dust is ****ing optional.
Now grow a few years and stop ****ing because of a fantasy GAME.

Game, this isn't reallity, it's fantasy it's not real, it's not our world, it's Dragon Age world.
