That is what I just said in my last two post. It makes no sense on introducing a new race to be playable for the player to customize and make them their own when in actuallity they have little to no say over anything the character does or says because "religion/philosophy" .Knight of Dane wrote...
Where does it say that the Qunari is actually qunari?
I can't see how we are supposed to make our own character in this RPG if s/he's forced into the qun because of background.
Will the Qunari Inquisitor be locked out of romances?

Everything I've heard says we're not going to get to be part of the Qun, so this is really a non issue.
That being said I could see how it might come up if our qunari was raised in the qun and left on their own. People brought up in repressive societies tend to either continue to repress themselves or cut loose to an unhealthy degree. I don't think of that as a problem so much as interesting story material for the qunari character.

No hanky panky for qunari inquisitor
Why? Your Qunari doesn't have to follow Qun matting custom.

As I said, the Qunari Inquisitor may not follow the Qun, but he /she may have been born and raised under the Qun,and while he/she may have rejected it, maybe his /her inner self retains some of the old mannerisms/complexes/fears/traditions
Or our Qunari Inquisitor may have been born in Orlais and know no more about the qun then anyone else in Orlais. In which case we need not worry about this at all.

Yes, because people love having content locked away from them, right?PlasmaCheese wrote...
That would be the best way to have so many people not play as a qunari.

If anything I see this as being more of a tool to give the romance more depth.
But even then, it's kind of unnecessary. Qunari love. They aren't emotionally repressed. They form close bonds with their friends that are no less powerful than those between any basra couple.
They just don't express those emotions through sexual intercourse. Sex is for procreation for them, not as an expression of love.
So there's nothing stopping a qunari who holds to the qun's restriction on this either out of sincere belief or habit from having a fully developed romance with someone, they just wouldn't have the fade to black at the end.
That's if they chose to go this way.

In that case the race is just an aesthetic choice, which isn't as appealing as a morally complex ex-Qun

That's the most probable scenario, but please, don't say with that certainty because the devs might surprise us yet again.
They already have stated as such. The Qunari player won't be a follower of the Qun. You can try to emulate the Qun if you wish as a player, but that is then up to the player to abstain from relationships. It would not be forced on them to do so.

Where did you get that from? (Not disputing, just don't recall hearing that anywhere.)
Qunari have no "family units": they do not marry, choose partners, or even know to whom they are related. A Qunari's "family" consists of his or her coworkers.[13]Qunari generally do not associate mating with love. They feel love. They have friends. They form emotional bonds with one another. However, they simply do not sleep with each other to express it. If they do, then they are sent to be reeducated by the Ben-Hassrath. If a child is produced, the same thing happens as with all other Qunari children: it is sent to be raised by the Tamassrans, evaluated, and assigned a job. Qunari do not waste resources unnecessarily, people included.[13]http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Qunari
That doesn't suggest non-qunari big, grey oxmen (
Actually, I don't think that even suggests qunari qunari don't have a sex drive ... (does it?) It's just something they do according to the needs of society - like producing offspring instead of, like, a monogamous, love kind of a model.
Also, I'm sure I read somewhere that the qunari inquisitor won't be a qun following qunari, but I can't recall where.

Didn't see it, could you provide a link please?
And you misunderstood me, it's not my intention to play as a follower of the qun, that would be too boring. I was just reminding Jhony that we shouldn't say those kind of things without proof.

I don't think they should be denied romance. Even if the inquisitor did follow the Qun, I doubt qunari brainwashing can completely eliminate sexual romance.

I actually would have liked to see them barred from being rogues; I think it would have helped to make the dwarf restriction not seem so arbitrary, in addition to just being a reasonable limitation (qunari don't "sneak", basra).

Love is funny like that, and qunari certainly still have sex drives. I don't see why they wouldn't... they've got to make ox-babies somehow.
