Who else felt really bad about EDI?

I noticed that with the Destroy ending which I (as well as a lot of you) picked no one really seemed to care about EDI's death. EDI was (in my opinion) a great character who Shepard kind of gets to watch "grow up" and he also influences her life in many ways. When EDI died, I was really upset but even more upset about how her death was treated. Her death was off-screen and Joker didn't care at all. And the reason I'm not mentioning the geth is because there is no actual evidence other than the catalyst that they died.
So, did anyone else really like EDI as a character and feel horrible when she died?

No.

Although that's not going to be apparent here. People continually complain about EDI simply on the basis of her being a mandatory squadmate. Don't expect them to admit it, though.

I didn't kill EDI, I ascended to eternal godhood. =D If I had decided to remain in my mortal crust for another century until I rotted into nothing then yes, I would have felt bad about killing EDI.

I always feel bad in the Citadel DLC when she hands you that gift she bought for you with a blank expression on her face. I'm not sure why it just makes me feel sad. D:

I rather liked EDI myself, and certainly did not like her demise, since I had Shepard befriend her and even encouraged Joker's relationship with her, but the reapers had to die, so that went out the window.

I changed the title because I felt it sounded kind of selfish (not the best term, whiney is actually probably better, but I can't think of any other word to use). I'm sure there are tons of people who like EDI and it sounded like I was whining and I didn't want anyone to think that's what I meant .

By the way, for anyone wondering, the title used to be: Am I the only one who felt bad about EDI?

And the reason I'm not mentioning the geth is because there is no actual evidence other than the catalyst that they died.

The denial is strong in this one - I'm sure that the technology-destroying explosions Hacket talks about in the epilogue arbitrarily spared the geth, and they are simply not shown because they were busy ironing their dog or something.

Her death was off-screen and Joker didn't care at all.

That's what happens when the viewpoint character dies... You just know that joker crashed the ship, and showed up to the memorial event after an unspecified amount of time had passed.

I fully support Destroy but there are a lot of times where I kind of wish I chose control. The Citadel still survives in this ending, all of your alive squadmates live, the geth are still alive (if you made saved/made peace with them), and you've got massive creatures rebuilding everything. At the same time though, something feels off about the ending, especially in the epilogue of it. I don't really think anyone should have that amount of power, and the reapers need to die. Still, in terms of content, the control ending kind of feels like the "happiest" one.

That moment in the Citadel DLC also made me feel sad, and even worse for the fact that my choice ended up with her dead. Also when you are saying your goodbyes to everyone at the end of ME3 I felt sad when she thanks you for making her alive just to realize that in my ending I take all of that away from her.

At first i felt bad,but once i realize that she is little more then a hostage of the Catalyst i became more numb and jaded to her death, and to her character as a whole for that matter.

I don't care about her it, Geth are already exterminated anyway.

I liked EDI and it was sad seeing her in Shep's last flashbacks. That said, I wish I'd never met her to begin with. Can't undo any of that though. If it was to me, I'd have rewound this story way back and not even had a project lazarus or teaming up with Cerberus. I'd have been teaming up with the Geth, and Legion would be the token AI character. Legion/The Geth had a unique perspective as far as sci-fi goes. EDI was retreading pinnochio territory like many sci-fi tropes (strangely enough, Legion became pinnochio eventually too).

But that's neither here or there.

I did not in all the times I pushed the red button.  EDI's was one life among trillions and she was already prepared to give it if it meant taking the Reapers down.

Plus I can't really feel "sad" in the traditional sense about the loss of a machine.  Sure she was damn good at what she did but at the end of the day she's still a machine.

I didn't feel bad.

If the price to pay for getting rid of the Reapers is Jokers sexbot, so be it. I liked EDI as a character but there is no chance I wouldn't stop the Reapers the first chance I got.

I have been mentioning this for over a year now, how EDI and the geth's death is blown off like it was nothing.  They're basically treated like untermenchen by Shepard, Hackett,  the ending in general.

This is why I find Destroy intolerable.  To quote Harry Dresden "It's not enough to stand against the darkness.  You must stand apart from it too"

1. To think anyone would suddenly grow love for the enemy, especially Hackett, from Legion makes no sense.
2. No one liked the geth, and they certainly didn't learn to just because Shepard was interviewed by Allers.
3. EDI is unknown to the rest of the galaxy, how would they mourn her?

And none of those reasons explains why they couldn't get a proper sendoff, like Mordin, Thane, etc.

They're thrown away like garbage.

Because it's the end of the game? How would you give a proper send off when nothing else happens?

Hacketts not going to say, "And EDI, honor her sacrifice," when she's not even supposed to exist. Or "Honor the geth, I know just a month ago they were killing you, but those weren't the real ones, honest."

Because that's what they are. At least they can be recycled.
