The Quarians had a lot of time before all the Geth decided to take up arms and swiftly eject or kill any and all threats to their continued survival. If you spend months or weeks trying to talk to another set of people into stopping their genoside and their only response is to silence you, then I don't really blame them.

Ugly business that. but really, 300 years later and the only thing on the Quarians minds are, how do we kill more Geth, how can we attack them.
While the Geth are keeping to themselves. Covertly observing the rest of the galaxy over the extranet, seeign that the galaxy isn't a very friedly place.

They only killed threats to their survival? Oh, I didn't know children, infants and literally any civilians, Quarian or not, fell under that category. Ever seen Battleship Potemkin? That's like saying the civilians on the Odessa Staircase were a threat to the poor Cossacks and that's why they needed to be massacred.

The Quarians are so evil for wanting retaliation for the Geth nearly exterminating their race.

Even the true Geth are not entirely trustworthy. Legion says they let the Heretics leave the true Geth and "understood their reasons" for doing so... Their reasons being to go join the Reapers to slaughter organs. Heretics say "hey guys I want to go kill a bunch of organics and attack other races" and the response was "okay we understand why you would want to, but don't really feel like joining you... But good luck on your mission!". Did they also attack organics? Nope. Did they know what Heretics were going to do and actually understood and accepted their reasons and gave their blessing? Yep.

The true Geth only got mad the Heretics starting targeting other true Geth. Attacking organics is fine, but attacking other Geth is what it finally takes for true Geth to consider it war. And make no mistake, true Geth could easily have wiped the Heretics out if they wanted, Heretics are only about 1/10 of Geth. If the true ones wanted to crush the Heretics, they would. But no, they not only let them they gave their blessing. ONLY when Legion brings back his experiences with Shepard do the Geth stop being organic-hating ammoral ****holes... And if you didn't have Legion and you meet the Legion VI, you understand what Geth were like before Legion came back from the suicide mission.

The geth have been fighting each other since ME2. That is why weapons like the Spitfire and the Geth SMG were made.

I guess I can thank the geth for that SMG. It sure is nice with cryo ammo.

In a thread about synthetics and AI on a Mass Effect forum? So surprising, Geth have nothing to do with those subjects. Clearly they were brought up to derail the thread.

This thread is supposed to be about how much we miss EDI, not even syhtetics in general. It just descended into that.

Because the Heretics made a virus to brainwash true Geth and started secretely spying on true Geth runtimes and patrols. Like I said: only when the Geth themselves are targetted do they do anything about their own extremist group.

Blame David and shodiswe, they brought the Geth up first.

Why do you keep capitalising geth. It isn't a title. It's a "race."

Anyway, that's a good explanation, if you actually don't do something like rewrite the heretics or Destroy them. If you do Legions loyalty mission, all of the heretics are more or less destroyed, even Legion comfirms this. This is just infighting now.

Yeah and yet most people capitalize other race names on this forum too, like Asari and Krogan.

Probably shouldn't do that. Imagine if we had to capitalize human in every sentence. Stop betraying your species, xenoes.

I never really found EDI interesting at all. I liked her in ME2, but something about her getting a body and becoming a squadmate just turned me down.

I do feel sorry for Joker though, because my actions killed EDI and I knew they were close.

I don't feel bad about EDI because she always survives my playthroughs. The way I figure it, Shepard's already going to die, no point adding more dead to the pile if you can avoid it. Especially not a good friend.

I take the whole Joker thing in good humor, which is the best way to approach the comic relief character. I do like the fact that it's a rare romantic subplot in a triple-A video game where the male is the shallow object of affection, while the female is the one who actually develops and grows as a character.

I would never let the Reapers survive for a robot, no matter how good of a friend they may be. It's not about who survives, from my Shep's point of view, is that the Reapers die so others can survive in the future.

I didn't like the body either.  But she was still a good character, who deserved better.  not to be discarded like yesterday's trash.

I don't think you can be too sure about Shepard dying just yet. After all, the files for high EMS ending is called "Shepard Lives" or something like that.

Not really.  She is overly reliant on Shepard as opposed to her own experiences.  She actually regresses at the beginning of the game, and her "conclusion" puts her back where she was at ME2.

Are you kidding? I love WALL-E!

The difference is that it, unlike the geth and EDI, is actually a well-written and sympathetic character.

I don't think we got to know the Geth enough to say if they're sympathetic or not. Legion barely comes in at the end of ME2, and we don't get a good glimpse of his "people" or culture (or lack thereof), other than the Geth server that needs shutting down. If Bioware didn't hold themselves to some Hollywood idea of making a "trilogy", then it might've been a worthy avenue to explore. In the same way that other RPGs open up their world as time goes on.

She lets Shepard determine her outlook on both synthetic and organic life.  She has the capability to form opinions, but differs to Shepard.

ME3 undoes her whole expansion into the Normandy itself.  She is only "alive" after she gets an extremely sexualized body, not when her ability to think is unshackled.

What outlook does she have on synthetic and organic life that is determined by Shepard?

EDI doesn't care what her body looks like, almost no one in the game does. She feels alive at the end of the game, and she says that's thanks to her experiences with the Normandy crew. She was not like this at the beginning of ME2, or indeed, anywhere in ME2.
