is a MacGuffin so terrible, that only indoctrinating TIM could beat. Or the Catalyst. ME3 is full of awful MacGuffins.

She knows where to put it. The Quarians know more about the Geth than anyone else.

Lol, what the hell for? If the Normandy didn't have a full-fledged AI on board, the Collectors would've taken the entire crew and probably destroyed the ship. A normal VI system would have been totally hijacked by the IFF viral trap and Joker would've been helpless. She's been nothing but useful for the entirety of ME2 and at a pretty pivotal point in ME3.

Legion doesn't have a heart.

He has something analogus to it. Reapers have this, EDI's platform has this, I bet geth do too.

The only reason Joker survived is because EDI guided him to the AI core and the engineering deck to allow her to assume control over the ship and flush out the Collectors. No matter how anyone cares to slice it, the mission would've failed right then and there if not for EDI. The same also goes for the attack on Cronos station.*

*yes I know, Miranda and stuff, but presumably, Miranda would not have been able to override the protocol that evacuates the air from the hangar bay as quickly as EDI.

I don't think it's that hard to open the airlock. They glorified EDI way too much. It's all a ploy to make you trust her. Chronos Station maybe, but you still could have taken a mech and plasted a hole in the wall, except plot.

How did they glorify EDI too much? Joker is not omnipotent. He didn't know how to regain control over the ship himself, and he would not have been able to hobble his way around the ship to figure it out on his own, assume control over every aperture in the Normandy AND the helm from a location that can be sealed off to ensure that he doesn't get sucked into space along with the rest of the Collectors.

How would a regular mech help at all during the Cronos attack. It would've been destroyed in the hangar and Shepard and the other squad member would've died when the air is dumped out. It's a huge opening with the atmosphere held in by a mass effect field. No chance pluggin that up.

-Joker opens airlock.

-Joker gets flushed out of airlock.

-Collectors laugh.

-Collectors destroy still inoperable Normandy.

-Shepard gets drunk and flies Kodiak shuttle into Omega 4 relay.
