Who else felt really bad about EDI?

Oh, Necanor. Did you just really use the Tali fanbase to help your argument? Very bad move.
It's one of the biggest fanbases in existence, why would their opinion not matter?

It would, if you could point out a good number of Synthetic-hating Paragons. Maybe 3 or 4. Can you?Necanor wrote...

Ate it right up.
And the funniest part of all is that the same people are the ones who love to tout how independent they are. How they don't have to think what BioWare tells them to think.
Doesn't the existence of Synthetic-hating Paragons contradict that? I don't care of what morality type my decisions are, I pick what I agree on and it happens to be that I always go full Paragon.
Half the Tali fanbase?
No

That said, I'd still kill them. Just because something is alive isn't reason enough to hold back.

I know you say this in every single thread about the ending, but you should know that Shepard will probably die childess. Just to let you know.TheMyron wrote...
Sorry, not going to sacrifice my dreams of a family so that idiot pilot can keep his sexbot.
Considering the Conduit would have been shot from a safe distance, and with either Jack or Ashley as my main LI, I don't think that Shepard would die childless.
No, child, no. They will die childless just like every other hero with such a wide choice of LIs, bar Warden.

the robot was a waste of a squadmate. I like to have the option to tell it to go back to its holographic form or risk the airlock.
I have no remorse for the tin can being fried in destroy. Didn't the Leviathan turd say everything can be rebuilt?

Well, that argument collapses as soon as you pointed out that they're members of the Tali fanbase. Thank you, I didn't consider that.
Some of them, not all. Even so, is the opinion of the Tali fanbase suddenly worth less than that of the holy Liara fanbase?

Tell me, why do you think members of the 'Tali fanbase' tend to dislike AIs more than other 'fanbases'?

I'm not sure, I just noticed that the number of people who dislike AIs in that group is far greater than in the other groups. It's simply based on observation. But by all means, enlighten me with your delightful theories.

Well that's the nice thing. It doesn't have to apply to all Renegades. Just the ones that tout Synthetics aren't alive.
So, you're under the impression that all paragon Shepards see synthetics as alive?

Tali is basically opposed to the geth. As are the quarians. People who are very fond of Tali are more likely to let her opinion influence them and oppose the geth as well.

Not everyone has their opinion influenced by a virtual character. Maybe you do, but most people don't.

I really have a very difficult time seeing how any rational person can look at EDI in ME 3 and say Synthetics in Mass Effect are not alive.dreamgazer wrote...

I suppose it's possible that it's a bleedover from thinking that robots will and can never be alive in real life, but I really don't see why such a person would ever bother with science fiction to begin with.

Do you have an alternate reason? This seems very simple to me. Tali hates the geth. Players who are attached to Tali also tend to hate the geth. Does it really take a genius to figure out what's going on?dreamgazer wrote...

Have you ever thought, that it might be vice versa? I never liked AIs, which is one of the reasons why Tali was sympathetic to me. David, please stop thinking you have a degree in psychology, you're just making generalizations and baseless assumptions.David7204 wrote...

Two very big assumptions are going on in this statement.David7204 wrote...
We're not talking about people hating the geth in general. We're talking about the 'Tali fanbase' hating the geth more than most players. Why would people who are fans of Tali tend to hate the geth more than most players?

I'm not that much into science fiction(at least compared to other people here), but I can't generalize. I like AIs in some fictions, I dislike them in others. Mass Effect is one of the others obviously.
