My guess is probably not.

A major reason the DA setting appeals to me (and I'm sure to others as well) has to do with how stripped down and grounded it is. Granted there's magic, there are demons, a dream realm, a vast underground network of dwarven cities, elves, and of course everything is rather medieval technologically, but it Thedas feels like it could be a real place. Adding too many fantastical elements (like unicorns) threatens the balance between the wonderful and the mundane that Dragon Age manages so well.

Of course you could also argue that since demons, magic, and the fade exist then why not unicorns. I suppose it depends, really. How can you take a unicorn and make it fit into Thedas? There's probably a way, but if it's just sticking a horn on a white horse then what's the point? It's still just a horse and all of its allure is lost anyway.

So there probably won't be unicorns in Dragon Age any time soon, or ever.

Stop. You're giving me chilling Oblivion flashbacks. 

I had a mod to turn my unicorn into a black, somewhat vicious looking thing. Fit in great with the beast going nuts and trying to kill anyone who accidentally pulled a weapon (including myself). Especially entertaining at one of the stables where the stable guy had his "fists" drawn, but he was an essential NPC and couldn't die. So many brutal fights between those two....

Turn the unicorn concept on its head. Make it a unicorn only in name (which then one wonders why it's even called a unicorn, but people have been misnaming things for eons, calling rhinos unicorns, or manatees mermaids).

No, I'd say that Unicorns don't exist...

But I rather like the idea that ignorant humans took half-remembered myths of halla and recovered horns as proof that they did, something the Dalish find endlessly amusing.

That being said, Sylvans were supposedly largely unknown or thought mythical in Origins, or at least ones that sang poetry. And Darkspawn and Dragons were meant to be extinct, so who knows?

If there are unicorns in Thedas will probably be some twisted, demon possessed, creature which might even look good in the outside but is as evil as any other demon type creature with some exceptions such as the ryming tree from the Brecilian Forest. It also applies to pixies and every other fairy-tale type of creature.

Conclusion: be careful what you wish for because Gaider feeds from your tears .
