Why all the hate for Alistair? For a character he wasn't all that bad. His voice? What do you expect him to sound like? Hating someone over the sound of their voice is silly.

Loghain was a legitimate traitor who committed high treason against his King. He deserves death, and that's what I gave him, especially slight in the fact that he tried to have me and Alistair killed a few times.

Alistair is, if unhardened, weak willed, whiny, judgmental, and insensitive. He places the weight of saving the world on the player characters shoulders and gets b*tchy if they complain about it, regardless of whatever trauma they may have suffered just prior to potentially being forced to join the wardens. He has an unrealistic idealism about the wardens that ultimately shows that he doesn't understand their purpose. He complains constantly about being pushed as king and tries to seize it the moment it looks like he isn't going to get his personal vengeance and refuses to put his feelings aside for the greater good.

He sounds exactly like his father before he became king.

I always wondered if maybe that was a subtle theme in Origins. That Alistair was a stand-in for King Maric and that you were playing the role of Loghain. It certainly made sense with how I roleplayed my Warden (deeply pragmatic but idealistic as well).

I always had that interpretation, at least when playing the human noble. Didn't hurt that my Cousland warden bore some physical resemblance to Loghain, quite coincidentally.

I thought Alistair had dragon blood and was probably immune from the calling.

Was that said in the comics? Because they're non-canon. Anywho, if it is canon, then that is so cheap.

I can see some of it being canon.  Like, if it's confirmed that Alistair is Fiona's son, I could take that as canon.  But if he died on your playthrough, how can he meet Yavana?

If I'm correct, the books that took place prior to the events of DA:O are canon while the comics that take place after DA:O are canon with Asunder being semi-canon.

Makes sense.  I expect prequels to be canon.

from what i have heard, everything in the comics and books are canon IF they fit in with your save. If Alistair is king then the comic with isabela and varric (depending on Isabelas status as well) is canon. if it wouldn't be possible, say you have a dead Alistair, then it is non-canon.

I don't know what to think about that. Alistair will still have dragon blood in him and that really annoys me. I mean, come on, this guy is not only the bastard son of Maric Thierin, but has dragon blood in him? Seems sort of Mary Sue-ish, no?

Good thing for me that Anora insisted on Killing Alistair then & hopefully Isabela is with Hawke.

Not all of us are on the Allistair band-wagon, you know? Some people who choose Alistair over Loghain either did because; they like Alisatir, or chose by default.

That's what it takes to make you lose faith in humanity? Talk about first world problems.

I had a really complicated narrative in my second playthrough where my Female mage was romancing Alaistair, but then recuirted Loghain and then killed herself at the final battle. Can't say I wouldn't love to see how Alistair fared after that! I won't get my hopes up though.

I wouldn't mind Oghren making a comeback in Dragon Age: Inquisition just to meet Drunk Alistair. I can see much lulz ensuing.

Oh please... Just because people like a morally grey fictional character, you start losing your faith in humanity? Ridiculous.

Given (i) the role Alistair gives you if he becomes King and (ii) what he potentiall makes you the Teyrn off... well... I thought they kind of punched you in the face with it.

Maybe Anora mounted his head on a wall and we get to see that  I have never even considered letting him live, he lied to me and defended Duncan who basically gave my warden a death sentence, they can both rot together

I choose Loghain over Alistair. Not everyone play the game as a goody-two-shoes character. I roleplay my warden through a gray len, not black and white. Questioning how people roleplay the game is a bit condescending.

I hope he does. I want the option to kill that ****.

That, and it would make sense for Alistair to perhaps get involved in defending the world from the Broken Viel Threat. He's quite the heroic-type. He would doubtless get involved in an alliance to stop the Viel Threat if it were being set up.

Discuss.

Sure why not, My Warden needs to make some use of that puppet of his >=)

Ooohh, I would LOVE to see his rotted head on a spike. Although, come to think of it, by the time Inquisition starts, Alistair's head will have rotted away to a skull. Although I guess his head could have had preservatives put in side it.

Loghain is alive, but my main warden just made it a habit of annoying Alistair for no apparent reason. But he got revenge on me and told me I could save Ferelden but he won't bother.

For me, it's simple. I don't need a partner who's a weaker version of myself. I need a partner who's strengths compliment my weaknesses.

My Warden was, over all, a good guy. Saved Redcliffe and Conner, cured the werewolves, sided with Caradin. Made relatively few morally questionable decisions.

I don't need Alistair there telling me my decisions are right. I need Loghain there telling me they're wrong. I need the pragmatist, I need the guy who's willing to do whatever it takes.

Well said. I want a character who questions my actions, like Sten. One of the best scenes in the game is when Sten challenges you in Haven. I mean, seriously, all of the rest of your companions act way too subservient to you. I gets annoying very quickly(though I still like them).
