Yeah, this is just stupidly funny. I don't really get into top this and top that, but for some reason IGNorant.com's lists always irk me. 

This is no exception. 

So already, they've entered the realm of "I can't take you seriously" with putting games Like Unreal Tounrament, Battlefield 3 and CSS in the top 80- these games are easily top 20. Easily. 

Sorry, this is a rant. 


But these games are bested by games like Metroid Prime and star trek voyage and Deus Ex HR, lol. DEHR is an amaing game, but it's an RPG/first person/cover shooter/stealth hybrid. It's FPS mechanics are actually a bit lacking. 


lol, it's list's like this that make me wonder. Does IGN even have people on staff that play games?

I know it's just a stupid list. But still.

This is a rant that a random group of people on the internet have an opinion which does not match your own.

I'd probably consider not even mentioning CSS on a top FPS list, because it's just CS 1.6 with a fancy graphics engine(for its time).

Just to clarify for my post at least, it's fine if you want to talk about their top 100 FPS list and how it doesn't match your own opinions.

IGNorant.com is a common play on words that many gamers use to refer to ign.com. This term comes from how out of touch ign is with many gamers, paid review scores and overall corporate whoring ign gives out- ME3 is a great example of this, but there are many others.

And it is my mistake for posting this on BSN. I should and will in the future keep any thoughts of disagreement with big corporations- EA, IGN, BioWare, Sony and Microsoft to myself. As this could potentially create discourse and discussion on BioWare Social Network site.

And I'd never want to do that.

Well, I haven't even played 100 different shooters, but I'd personally put Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2 somewhere closer to number one on the list. That was such an amazingly outstanding game for its time. God I'd love it if that game got an anniversary edition. Neither Halo Reach nor Doom 3 would be on my list.

First off, I don't care what you know. Or think you know. Or if you think it's okay for me to discuss whether I agree or not agree with things. Secondly, I made the thread cause I thought their list was commical. My own list would be very different, but who really cares. Their list to me, is funny. If you agree with them then, cool story bro. 

But I challenge anyone to tell me how Star Trek Voyager is better than Battlefield 3 or Unreal tournament, lol. It's just a list, I found it funny. It's about gaming. A major factor and genre in gaming. It's off topic. I posted it in the off topic section of a gaming forum for those reasons. My mistake.

Your link just generates a little more traffic and clicks to IGN's way..which is pretty much the onlt thing they care about.

When it comes to pure FPSing for sake of FPSing - portions of the genre, I don't remember seeing anything that'd imply any sort of evolution or innovation taking place since late 90s. Graphics get better and scripted lame explosions get bigger. That's about it.

Completely ignoring anything that came after Unreal Tournament 2003 sounds like a perfectly valid rule of thumb in my books. Afaik literally nothing has happened within the genre of "pure FPS" since then. Merit just isn't there.

With all this in mind, ofc it makes perfect sense to praise gemes and devs who even try to bring something interesting or ambitious to the mix. (Metroid, Deus Ex,Portal) Literally only things valid,interesting or relevant in COD or BF are their salen umbers. They both are the same goddamned game I've seen around since late 90s. Nothing in either game deserves some special recognition.

Also,,holy **** how unreadable piece of shït that list makes. I'm supposed to click through ONE HUNDRED tiny stupid stamp sized info boxes? Fuk off IGN, seriously.  I feel dirty for visiting them..I blame you, OP.

That should be used to disparage their reviews, not their taste in games. There's nothing wrong with preferring one style of shooters over others.

I skimmed the list. Some are respectable, most aren't what I would've chosen. Also keep in mind that they're only at the last 20 - the first 20 will be scrutinized more closely, I'm sure. And as said above, it's someone else's opinion, and that doesn't mean they're taking away all the enjoyment you had with your favorites.

I liked heretic quite a bit for its dark fantasy setting, but I wouldn't have put it in my top list, besides the near end(and I suppose they did for theirs). Never heard of SiN. AvP is respectable.

I think its also quite interesting that they don't put all 100 games at once. Seems to me like they're trying to get views. I don't think picking out 100 games is really all that hard, at least not when it comes to IGN. they probably pick the games of the people who paid them the most.
