A big problem with Skyrim modding is that the game will crash at around 3.1GB of RAM used. People regularly reach this and would easily keep going if the engine allowed for it.filetemo wrote...
explain to me why I need minimum 4gb of ram when I've never seen any game that uses more than 1.3 gb.
It's not like I'll be running photoshop while playing. Nowadays specs look bloated. Not only DA:I, but many others too.
Well, it seems like Dragon Age Inquisition will be really demanding from PC's...

Funny. I have the same spec and play every game at the best setting in 1080 P. Unless you only want to play at 60 FPS. I was thinking of upgrading to a 770 GTX, but those price are ridiculous. So i'm waiting and looking at what is going to happens after the ps4 is released. It's unacceptable for a '70 to be higher than 400 $.

I iz cheap.
What most people tend to forget when comparing system performance with Bf3 on Ultra is that simply turning HBAO to SSAO and reducing MSAA 4x to MSAA 2x and everything else left untouched will give a system a 15+ fps boost at minimal cost of graphical fidelity (and I mean nearly completely imperceptible during playing).
And like I said, I do not expect DAI to be anywhere near as graphically imposing and hardware hungry as Bf4 (if anything, the CPU requirement is a bit higher in general and the GPU requirements will be a good chunk lower!).
And if you're waiting for an upgrade, take a good long look at the upcoming AMD HD 9xxx series around the 2013/14 break. Not only are those new AMD GPUs slated to be really good from what I gathered from informations floating around on the net, but the resulting price war with nVidia will likely mean that the HD 7xxx series and the GTX 6xx series will get dirt cheap.
And a GTX 670 (which is actually CHEAPER than a GTX 660Ti right now in my region (WTF?)) or HD 7950 or better WILL run most games for the upcoming two years at maximum or close enough settings with no problems.

Those graphic memory make no sense. The 660 is 2 GB. So is the 680 GTX, 770 GTX. There's more than just memory with video card.
Also what a quad core CPU mean ? There's a good difference in performance between a Q6600 and a I7-I5 quad.
Is that official requirement or just some shmuck that pulled it out their ass ?
Yes, those are the official system requirements for Bf4 and np, don't pay attention to that VRAM stuff.
I've been playing games whose official minimum specs listed 512MB VRAM with my laptop 8600mGT 256MB VRAM just fine at medium or better settings.
And yeah, GTX 660 and 3GB VRAM do not compute. Even though there are 3GB VRAM versions of the GTX 660 or 660Ti, the limited 192bit memory bus bottlenecks effective VRAM anyway.

Exactly.. What those AA do it's make the game at a stupid high resolution like 3000 P or whatever and recompress it in 1080P to fight all jaggies. Those are straning hardware considerably and aren't doing much. The fidelity don't change very much when you drop it . AA is often the most demanding thing in PC. So don't be scared to pimp it down or use basic AA that are much less demanding.

GTX 780 SLI would be totally overkill unless you have a particularly large (30" and above) screen to maximize resolution. A single GTX 780 is more than enough to keep you going for the next 4-6 years, assuming you have a decent processor to accompany it.MarchWaltz wrote...

On-topic: I wouldn't look at BF4 as a suitable benchmark, even if it uses the same engine. DA:I will most likely have lower recommended requirements.

What kind of cpu anyway you need for such gpu power ? i am so laughing when I see people with 1300 $ worth of vcard, but with a 300 $ cpu lol. What do they expect
The only reason those kind of setup could be used 100 % is with sophisticated ANTI-Aliasing and ridiculous high resolution(But most game does not even offer it). They can do what the hell they want with their money, but I am like a Qunari ... So much resource wasted. Just think . By the time your card power can be really used. New technology pop and your card is good for the trash bin

It's possible DA:I will have higher requirements than this due to it being another year away. That means Bioware probably gets whatever new code advancements DICE puts on their engine.

The specs are a pretty big leap over BF3. This isn't shocking though. When you leap into the next-generation PC requirements shoot up due to the new console hardware. It doesn't bother me. I'll have a new PC next year and my current one is just fine at running BF4 probably on medium settings.

I don,t think we will see a big leap in hardware this gen to be honest. Nothing compared to 2005.

Actually 300 bucks get you an i7, either the 4770K for LGA 1150 (or previes gen i7 LGA 1155) or the 3820 for LGA 2011, which are plentyful enough to support even high powered SLI/Crossfire.
If you want threeway (or fourway if you really want to waste money) SLI/Crossfire though, those CPUs ain't gonna cut it, that's i7 3930K territory. My rule of thumb for nowadays is: physical cores/2 = maximum GPU.
Not that I can live that philosophy with my current financial standing ... I'd so build myself an i7 4770K w/ 2x GTX 780 for a single 144Hz 3D monitor @1080p along with the rest enthusiast quality rig just to play every damn game on earth with maximum graphic settings with around 100 fps ... one can dream.

Nvidia is expected to launch the GTX 800 series next year, which is based on the Maxwell architecture (600 and 700 were both based on Kepler). I'd actually choose that over the current cards if I were to upgrade by the time DA:I comes out, but that's just me.DuskWarden wrote...
By the time DA:I comes out, the price of the 'new' stuff like the GTX 700 series will have dropped significantly, so might as well wait to upgrade.

It is very low end to me.. i would not even consider it except GTX770 and above. But GTX770 is the best bang for bucks IMO.
660 Ti / 760 level card is enough to max pretty much all games today at 1080p 60 fps, overlooking games like Rome 2. Price / performance is also better than 770.
In the future there will be more taxing games; there will also be next gen cards.

Though admittedly I really have no idea if my tower could actually handle it. The laptop is working on perfecting her death throes so I highly doubt that she could. All I know is that Teeseven lags terribly on SR3 and a bit on ME3, so I only assume that he would choke on DAI.

XD those prices. True enough I probably should wait til next gen hits anyway to see if I need a card with a lot of RAM.

Sure, I might upgrade to a system with two GTX 780m cards eventually (as I have read in reviews that 780m SLI gives you performance roughly equivalent to that of a single desktop Titan), but that's only happening if my current gaming laptop suddenly dies.
