Save import. BW has really pushed the concept of taking your past with you in it's established franchises. Losing that because of a jump to next gen console would be unfortunate. Especially since the games works off flags to establish what event occured, that can be copied, duplicated and transferred into the game engine of next get consoles.

Do you really want these endings transferred to whatever comes next?

Can't think of anything worse than a midiquel, akin to fiddling while Rome burns. I can see a long after sequel to ME3 working but as much as i love imports i can't see them being able to carry that forward effectively. Therefore a clean break & reset of imports for a future alternate universe is probably for the best.

No. Clean slate. Even if it's not the decisions/ending I chose.

I want BioWare to focus on making the game amazing, not catering to every detail of their previous and concluded trilogy.

No. I want a sequel, and Bioware has proven that they couldn't juggle all the balls from the Trilogy with how many of them were dropped. How could they juggle all those balls plus whatever new ones they add?

Not to mention if the main draw is that the choices you make will affect the later games, how will a 'midquel' have any impact?

Plus, haven't they said this game will be friendly to newcomers to the franchise? I'd be surprised if they put the work in to carry over our data for a game outside of the "trilogy"

As long as they don't can't canon Shepard (if that wasn't his final, agonal breath) into a relationship with Ash, or worse yet, Miranda I suppose I can survive with a clean slate.

No, A sequel should be set decades or even a century or more after ME3 in which a group of unalligned technocrats is using modified Reaper technology to create a dystopian society.

Good to see people with reasonable expectations: wanting a sequel, but knowing import won't deliver.

If it takes place during or after the original trilogy: yes, definitely.

Well they also said that ME3 was newcomer friendly. Not only did the story and gameplay suffer in my opinion, it wasn't actually newcomer friendly. Although in this case, I hope they mean it, since it'll mean a fresh start after that congested mess.

And if they were to pick a canon relationship, my money is on Liara considering it's impossible for her to die.

How? I doubt it will be a sequel. I hope it is but I doubt it. If it is a prequel then there wouldn't be any purpose. I suppose if it is a side story taking place at the same time as ME1 to ME3 then maybe.
I really doubt it would happen. If it is a sequel, they will have to adopt a canon ending to make it workable.

The next Mass Effect will probably be set in either an alternate Universe or it will be a prequel. It's also quite possible that the next Mass Effect could be set during the events of Mass Effect 3.

It need to have Save Import. BioWare should give us a trophy or two for playing Mass Effect Trilogy.

No, the choices we made from Mass Effect 1 to 3 would carry little weight if anything. Thousands of years later it would be forgotten to history and the length of time is too great for it to actually impact anything.....If it's a sequel, but for a prequel there wouldn't be a point.....

It's unrealistic to try and fit the disparate endings into the next series fo games.  That being said, I'd like to see ME4 as a sequel.  The destruction of the mass effect 'portals' (forgot names just now) and the aftermath of the reaper war (decimated populations, home planets) is some fantastic 'ammo' for some excellent stories.

I'd like to see a scenario set 10-20 years in the future.  Enough time for a new menace to appear amidst the chaos, or even still cleaning up leftover reaper fragments / indoctrinated troops, but not so long that some of the great characters that were created in the original trilogy couldn't realistically be in the story.

As for Shepard, I'd love to see him / her again (who's to say god-boy couldn't have put him back together)?  BUT ONLY in a limited capacity.  His story is over, and he's getting a nice quiet retirement with his LI (if there is one).

The game save from the ME trilogy is a must.  But only for the appearance of shepard (if customized by the gamer), and to exclude specific characters (if the story line was meant to include them)  It's a guarantee he'd have a statue someplace, the save would be to bring over the appearance the gamer chose for him.  The character code could be suitable for that too, if they ignored facial scarring from being too 'bad'.

It hasn't delivered in the past either.

I'm guessing Bioware will want to distance themselves from the trilogy with the next Mass Effect game. An import facility will most likely be unnecessary given that the next game will most probably be set sometime before the trilogy.

Just my best guess though.

Can't think of an idea worse than a midiquel. Really why would i have any interest in fiddling whilst Rome burns.

I see some sort of alternate universe sequel with no import as being the best way to make a clean break from the trainwreck that is ME3 & its endings.

IMO:

Keep the worlds
Keep the races
Keep the tech

Throw out ME1-ME3's story. No Shepard. No Liara. No James.

Start fresh. Clear rubble and begin anew without the baggage.

No import - at some point every franchise needs to free itself from the past, if for no other reason than to avoid having to keep branching out until it becomes impossible to account for everything. As much as I'd love to see Shepard and crew again it's time for someone else.

I would love to see save imports to set the stage for the next game. Least for the minor filler stuff.

It will be a spinoff set after the events of ME3.

All roads leads to Synthesis. It's inevitable, you got to choose the path though.

Yeah I doubt that they're going to address synthesis in any way in the next game.

Actually I'd be happy with no imports at all. The endings were dead on arrival, the best thing for them to do is pretend they never happened. Anything pertaining the ending is gonna cause angry fans to flip tables, and I hope they avoid it.
