Hey just throwing out this question on because I cant find an answer ANYWHERE!!!! (even though I know this is probably because of the game's age but it kinda feels like the modders just don't want to share their secrets)

I'm new to the community and after beating origins on Xbox decided to get it on pc to enjoy some of these premo mods. I have found lots of awesome ones and also have enjoyed using the tool set in conjunction with mods to make some cool looking pc heads. On that matter id now like to use the toolset or anything that will accomplish it to personally dictate what armor npc's will wear. For example I love Da II's grey warden armor but I prefer the idea of Fereldan's grey wardens being small isolated and undersupplied and would like to keep the majority of in game wardens (Alistair, Duncan and Loghain specifically) as they are. However I'd like to equip Riordan who is from a nation where the wardens are more prominent with the rouge version of DA II's greywarden armor, as well as do other things like equip Bryce Cousland and Rendon Howe with the Kirkwall exports mods noble light armor sets and Berhat with Varric's coat. I'd also like to give the Battledress of the Provocateur skins from some of the Leliana sacred ashes mods out there. I know how to use the toolset to change what my pc currently has equipped and since there are many mods out there like this one that actively replace an NPC's apparel it just must be a matter of figuring out where to go and what to do.  Can anyone please give me some direction on this; I can’t find anything helpful online... thanks in advance

There's no secret. What you want to do is a very basic mod and it has been covered numerous times in the past. At its simplest level, you just need to create a new module that extends single player, make copies of the NPC creature files that you wish to edit, change the equipment in their inventories, export, then change the UTC filenames to override the originals.

If you want to use 3rd party mods for equipment then you have to jump through some extra hoops, seeing as just installing those mods won't make them visible to the toolset. The easiest solution is to equip dummy items on the NPCs in the toolset, then after exporting edit the UTC and manually change the UTI resrefs to those of the appropriate 3rd party mods (you'll likely need to go poking through their ERFs to see what those are, unless they provide a list). Alternatively, if you just want the content of the mods and not the mods themselves, you can create your own new items by extending the appropriate item variation GDAs and extracting the appropriate resources from the mods (models and textures, etc.).

I answered this in the other thread where you posted the same question.
