Mods here are just totalitarians. Necroing a thread for a possible OT discussion isn't lock worthy esp for those who just dived into the MP aspect of the game. FFS let us have our discussion. I know you guys are just doing your job but you guys are just as stiff as Bill Clinton's ____. Flexibility would be gladly appreciated.

Check those necros on the post that bumped them up. They were done by the same 2 or 3 people and was very obvious when it happened several hours ago. Those 2 or 3 pretty much killed those threads (mostly useless) by necroing w/o actually doing anything to add to it so the blame is on them, not on the mods this time.

I'm more irritated by those that did this than the mods, especially getting the "This is your squad. These are the people you play with." thread locked for no reason.

It would have been sufficed to just delete the off topic posts and warn the poster and just let the thread live. But locking a thread is just power tripping. modspls

I like to go back and laugh at people's stupidity. Can't do that if the thread is deleted.

Agreed on this. Deletion rates have dropped which is a very good thing.

If the necro is relevant and the subject of said thread is actually continued, there is nothing wrong with necroing a thread. In fact it should be encouraged over making the same thread over 14 times. Most of the time however this is not the case, and necros are in fact used for spamming. Either directly in the necro post or the inevitable variations on "Got balls, son" that follow, necro'd threads usually progress into spam. I suppose mods simply lock these threads since they consider the discussion in question to have been finished and leaving it open will only produce more spam.

Generally not, but there are some cases deleting might be warranted. If the thread never had a point and turned into a hive of porn, it might be better to just do away with the thread entirely. <_<

The really weird thing is when mods not only delete the thread from the forums, but also delete it from the registry. The knowledge that some threads ever existed might corrupt our innocent little minds.
