It all depends on your view of EDI.  Do you consider her a person capable of independant thought and complex relationships (any type of relationship) or do you consider her just another machine.  Life doesn't necessarily mean you have to have blood pumping through your body.  As for Joker only caring about her after EDI got a body, that's a statement that full of BS.  They began a relationship in ME2 that only deepened through out and in between the two games.  I thought it was a little weird at first too, but then I started talking to EDI and all she wants to do is make Joker happy.  A machine wouldn't give a damn about a person being happy, hell, it wouldn't have an opinion either way.  EDI is a person a living being, not a machine, so her and Joker's relationship isn't all that out of the realm of ordinary.

I have no problem with this sort of thing... when it's handled well. Joker's and EDI's relationship back in ME2 was strictly platonic, the only thing romantic about it was that she had a synthesized female voice.

Why would Joker be sexually attracted to a being with no sexual characteristics? In any case, he was clearly overcompensating with denying any attraction in ME2. And as it's mentioned that Joker would clearly be quite happy about EDI's body, before he actually sees it, it seems clear that there was something present before EDI's upgrade.

No sexual characteristics? How are you defining sexual characteristics here?

Attraction is not just physical.  And EDI's new body has all the subtlety of a sledgehammer

Question the character design if you will, but I still like the plot.

I am questioning the character design.  Like I said, I have no problem with the idea of Joker and EDI having a relationship.  Or even EDI having a physical body with female characteristics.  But EDI's appearance was so over-the-top that it becomes hard to take the entire relationship seriously.

I thought it was amusing enough. Joker's comments in the first conversation was funny enough for me to let it slide, and I like how Shepard jokingly implies that he may have had something to do with it in the first place.

"I mean, look at that! I would've baked a cake!"

Eh they needed something with massive knockers as miranda wasn't in it as much (or at all).
Liara's benezia tribute probably wasn't enough.

Would have liked this and several other posts today. Including the ultrasound. I ran out of likes.

Yeah, notice a resemblance anywhere?

I'm not so pure I don't like a bit of eye candy; nothing wrong with good looking characters of either gender. But EDI's body was just ridiculous. It was beyond blatant and most annoyingly flew in the face of the plot reasons for her body even being there. Why would you make an infiltration unit that looks like an existing person, uses their name, and is built with a face and body shape that makes it completely incompatible with any other identity. Did Cerberus just not intend to ever use their expensive sate of the art machine ever again? You could say yes, given that their plan was to have a fleet of Reapers at their fingertips afterwards, but still - it's just a bit silly.

The romance with Joker... to each his own, personally I hate it and can't take it seriously at all.

So ultimately... Sexbot.

Why wouldn't they? I imagine they could've easily stuck another head on there, or even gave her a new "faceplate" or whatever.

I don't like it. The Edi/Joker hook up. Issues of whether she's a sexbot, or not, aside, her consciousness, or her "mind" just comes off to me as entirely too young.

She reminds me more of a Tween. Just coming into the awareness of herself and her "sexuality". And having a crush on her teacher. That's how it comes off to me.

Which then turns Joker into something like the creepy older teacher that takes advantage of that new flowering. Ack, the whole thing is disgusting to me. Her body may have been over developed, but her mind--in regards to these sorts of matters--was very preteen-ish.

tbh, I would have preferred if Edi had a body more like a ME version of Shale--w/Edi's voice.

I would prefer the robot stay as a hologram like it was in ME2
