It all depends on your view of EDI. Do you consider her a person capable of independant thought and complex relationships (any type of relationship) or do you consider her just another machine. Life doesn't necessarily mean you have to have blood pumping through your body. As for Joker only caring about her after EDI got a body, that's a statement that full of BS. They began a relationship in ME2 that only deepened through out and in between the two games. I thought it was a little weird at first too, but then I started talking to EDI and all she wants to do is make Joker happy. A machine wouldn't give a damn about a person being happy, hell, it wouldn't have an opinion either way. EDI is a person a living being, not a machine, so her and Joker's relationship isn't all that out of the realm of ordinary.
I have no problem with this sort of thing... when it's handled well. Joker's and EDI's relationship back in ME2 was strictly platonic, the only thing romantic about it was that she had a synthesized female voice.
Why would Joker be sexually attracted to a being with no sexual characteristics? In any case, he was clearly overcompensating with denying any attraction in ME2. And as it's mentioned that Joker would clearly be quite happy about EDI's body, before he actually sees it, it seems clear that there was something present before EDI's upgrade.
No sexual characteristics? How are you defining sexual characteristics here?
