Joker can love the Normandy and EDI. Its odd but IRL people marry buildings and cars. Its not normal but whatever.

The illusive man had that robot built, at least in part, as a tribute to his dead lover Eva Core. All that does is make me think that Joker is in love with a talking, secondhand sex toy. This disturbs me.

Also, I think Shep sums it up best. Its something like 'She's made of metal, and you have brittle bone disease.' Not too far off Joker being caught dry humping the hull of the Normandy either.

thanks for that mental picture - it's quite disturbing, you know?...now go look up a therapist for me to cleanse my mind of it...*laughs*

no, don't need a shrink but it's still disturbing

as for "sexbot":

well, even if EDI does not "feel" anything when using what her body has for having sex - yes in that she is like a sex-toy - but she probably does it for Joker (and - at least if we believe she really likes him - probably considers it time well spent, if it helps Joker)

as for it being disturbing:

well, they like each other and while EDI will never feel an orgasm, i would think, that helping Joker like that (people do have "needs" (or at least "wants" - as no one who doesn't have sex dies of course)) shows how much she truly cares (although i don't know what an AI would see in a clumsy human even more one that has a disability!)

as for Joker - well, most normal people would probably not be interested in a person that can't even really go out with them, have fun etc. so it is IMHO understandable that he looks elsewhere for his thrills (he has a very large collection of porn for example)

greetings LAX
ps: i hope i got my point across - my mind is a little jumbled ATM (got a big day tomorrow - no, i am not getting married or something ^^)

Lover & later widower of course. Edi makes the choice & in a lot of ways actually does the pursuing.

Sex doll would suggest that she was created specifically to be one. She's an infiltration "doll". As for the yagh, they're still sentient beings, albeit highly aggressive.

Did I say that they were't. If you took me using thinking in the first part of the sentence to mean that, it doesn't. Also, it doesn't matter what Cerberus uses it for, Joker uses it for pleasure. Shepard uses it for business. Pretty creepy, if you think about it.

EDI gives her/it's permission and makes a choice regarding Joker. It's not like EDI goes to bed with anyone.

As for business, does that make the rest of the squad creepy? Because Shepard is using them for business? Or the other crewmembers hooking up like Tali and Garrus... So... Garrus uses Tali for pleasure? or Tali uses Garrus for pleasure?

I don't think anyone could just walk up to EDI and say, hey ****bot get in my bed, NOW! that might end badly for them... Just thinking of the VS getting smashed by Eva Core. She kind of dismissed Legions atempts to interface aswell.
Legion seemed kind of hurt, which resulted in him taking a second and a half extra time before continuing their conversation.

What does any of this have to do with anything?

Do we know if EDI and Joker ever actually had sex? The closest reference to physical contact i recall is her 'kissing him for luck' before the final battle.

They do.

Joker cracks a joke about the broken bones having been worth it.

So why does it seem like there are many who see Joker as a lonely pervert who can only find compionship in a sextoy, while accepting Shepards relationships with aliens and not dub him/her as a sick Xenophile.
Why is it harder to see Joker's relationship with EDI as a legit relationship.

I would actually dub an alien dating (not Asari) Shepard as a sick xenophile actually. It's why I held off on the Garrus romance for so long, I knew that Shepard would have to be horribly kinky and a bit deviant to go for it. Same with Thane or Tali. But I got over it. So Shepard has a fetish for those species and is a deviant, doesn't change who Shepard is as a person. Shepard gets aroused by the thought of Turian man meat? So what? Nobody should judge other people's sexual interests and fetishes because everyone has a few weird things themselves. My latest playthrough was with a Garrus romance. I felt a bit weird about it whenever they got physical, but I was still happy for how happy they were together... And that's all that matters.

Tali is a human girl with glowy eyes and a few differences in the extremities, so I don't see what you're getting at.

That's enough differences. She has purply grey skin and duck feet and backwards knees and lizard hands, I would qualify that to be "kinky" to want to bang that. Don't get me wrong, Tali is one of the romances I most pick for male Shepard. I just realize, Shepard has got some odd tastes in sexual attraction to be interested... And so is Tali to return it. It's not too hard to imagine they both have a fetish for the other species. I mean, let's just say my Tali romancers have some Quarian porn on their HD.

Still, I admit that she's definitely less alien the Turian. Turian romance took me dozens of playthroughs to finally go for because the weirdness of it set me back, whereas Tali I didn't have an issue with to begin with because she is still fairly human looking. At the same time thougn, if someone was attracted to a human with purply grey skin and duck feet and backwards knees and lizard hands (maybe they have a super weird genetic defect), would you not consider them to be a bit... Odd in their sexual attractions?

I will say, I'm a bit odd myself. If quarians were real, I would have no issue hooking up with a female of that species. So I am actually attracted to quarians myself, but I admit it's a bit weird.

Well, I'm not sure if I agree with you. Although it's somewhat established, that Tali does have a thing for alien men.

I think I know why she has little issue with cross-species romance. Her favorite chick flick growing up was a movie glorifying a cross-species relationship, and favorite movies can have a strong affect on a child's brain. Because of that movie, the idea of a romance with another species was probably a lot less "icky" to her... Or maybe even something to apsire to, nevermind just it being not-icky. The fact that she starts dating someone else non-quarian if you don't romance either of them lends credence to that idea. That movie affected and taught her views on romance between species, and she carried it into adulthood.

Wonder if the friends she watched it with during sleepovers also became more accepting of the idea too?

When a romance like Talis is set in a period when humans have come to accept that there are different species in the galaxy, I'd guess that Shepard wouldn't be seen as a gross xenophile with a fetish as much as he would be in our time. I mean wasn't there a time when having a relationship with someone with different colored skin was seen just as disgusting?

Yeah, I was just about to mention that. It's a show actually, Fleet and Flotilla. There is a Quarian girl on Omega, who dated a human and is now being hit on by her Turian friend. I guess cross-species relationships aren't that uncommon for Quarians. We see a few cross-species relationships though, like Captain Gavorn.

Mass Effect is the most sexualized video game series ever. It shouldn't be too surprising that they made their robot sexy.

Besiiides, she's voiced by number 6. That should've made it even LESS surprising.

Rhetorical question, but that proves my point. A human/quarian relationship would probably be accepted by many people in MEs time frame, except of course by people like TIM and other pro-human Cerberus eemployees.

Excuse me, but when is the last time that Mortal Kombat had a whole entire species of women that were pefectly in shape that had a reputation of all being promescious? Did I miss the characters that were genetically created to be the pefect women? Or how about the series with the robot that was designed specifically to be a robot? Or the series that didn't have one single unactracttive woman or the series that had all women wear skin tight armor or casual clothes.

FACE THE REALITY BRO.
