I think the PC needs a nickname or something. Having everyone refer to him as the inquisitor just sounds weird. Warden was fine. Shepherd suits a soldier (referred to by last name) but "the inquisitor" just sounds weird especially if you romance someone. "Oh my beloved inquisitor", "I love you inquisitor", "come to bed inquisitor"
Thoughts?
How are we going to be referred to by the NPCs

I think most people referring to us as 'The Inquisitor' or simply 'Inquisitor' is fine, but our LIs should definitely give us pet names of some kind. That would be great.

We are apparently going to have last names. Would be nice to see them get used.

Probably L.I. won't use any name/nickname at all... will just say "YOU"

NPC: Inquisitor, you, him/her, he/she.
LI: refer player as love, my love something like that...

Just as well the voice cast can't voice player names.
Though if artificial voice speech ever gets good enough to slip a digital player name in then we also have problems...
"Thank you for saving me, 'NinjaHotDog526'... er, no....

that works fine for a love interest - also i agree, it is kind of strange to not be refered to by first name (also that is impossible of course, unless you don't let people chose their own first names...like in reality - which is IMHO already bad enough (i know some people with really bad sounding names who are cursed with them IMHO...or people who don't have a middle name because the parents couldn't agree on one (myself included) - even more as i don't like having a name tens of thousands of other people (and more) use....i let my friends call me by my gamer-tag/gamer-nickname for this very reason!)
greetings LAX
ps: it is not extremely unique, but more so then my given name (to quote from Harry Potter: "Nasty common name if you ask me!" - i mean yes, i like it (more then a lot of others, but IMHO it shows a lack of creativity just to go with something that is used often!)

If they're going to go all out with the 8 voices and such... might as well have NPCs refer to you by your last name.

I imagine most NPC's will refer to you by your title as head inquisitor, or something along those lines. No reason for strangers or those you simply have a professional relationship with to do otherwise. Your friends and companions, though? It would be nice if they came up with nicknames of their own to call you by, when it is at all necessary.

In the pax demo one of your soldiers calls you "Your Eminence"
so at least it's not just inquisitor.

By last name, since all of them have pre-set last names anyways.

Probably by "inquisitor", but if last names are static, they might call us by that before we get our status.

I hope with all my heart they're not going back to the wildly awkward DA:O way of everyone calling the PC by his/her title. I hope having a name is not something we had to give up in order to have race selection

well the inquisitor, just as valid as warden, so for most people that, but love interests, what did they do in DA:O? i mean your LI's didnt really refer to you by a name, they just spoke to you. Its like my GF rarely calls me by my name or a pet name, she just talks to me... like a human

Overthinking it. You know how to avoid "oh my beloved inquisitor?" DON'T BLEEDING SAY INQUISITOR. "My beloved" and "I love you" work just fine.Rane7685 wrote...

In fact, that's how they handled it before and it was no problem.
