Hi,
Just picked up DAO after unexpectedly seeing the Mac version (aka cider port); had been watching it on Crossover games, but reluctant to play without seeing the cutscenes!!
Anyway, loving lots of the game - having played BG, TOSC, BG2, SoA years ago and lots of NWN more recently - I am pleasantly surprised how much this feels like my memories of BG2.
Now to my request. Archery. All of the related talents seem to relate to what I might call 'targeted' archery - the kind of bow use you would use hunting, or in standard competition in RL. What is lacking, and what I would love to see, is the option (and I'm guessing the easiest way to implement this would be via a Talent or two) of doing what archers do in battle - in RL & in the DA movie clips - of actually arcing shots to hit a location rather than a specific target. In RL competitions this is know as 'clout' shooting http://en.wikipedia....i/Clout_archery
This would allow archers a chance to drop arrows over defenses that block a direct shot, as well as perhaps raining death at a distance. Clearly it would need to be less accurate than targeted archery - I see an 'area of effect' targeting mechanism (as per AoE spells in NWN2 - and I'm assuming DAO, although not familiar with spell casing yet in DAO), that would perhaps be smaller (ie more accurate) for Master Archer, with a chance of hitting any target in that area, and - obviously - bypassing the line-of-sight blocking. I'd also think an increase in armour penetration and critical hit chance would be appropriate as arrows coming down from on high are striking armour at angles it was not designed to protect as well as having fairly good chance of hitting in the head/neck/face area. Should perhaps also add an 'extreme range' to bows??
Thanks for your time
Cal.
