Also didn't she hate the dog?
She was happier to see Dog than you in Witch Hunt.

Can we be given a choice? I mean we have options for war-pets from all across Thedas. The Cat lovers could easily be given master and treated like staff by their feline companion while the Dog lovers could own a Mabari as usual.
Not no but hell no, both in DAO and slightly less in DA2 only because he was counted as a companion were totally useless other than as sword and arrow fodder. NO MORE PETS.
We got Blackwall. He pretty much is a mabari.
The Inquisitor already has two pets. One is an Iron Bull. The other is Cole. Joking aside, it would have been nice for him/her to get a mabari as this should be a common thing for all DA main game heroes to have. Mabari's pick their own masters and naturally, some like heroes. The Warden saved Barkspawn's life thus the puppy(i think he is only 2-3 years old in origins) imprinted himself onto the Warden then developed a tendecy to try to adopt children. Hawk's mabari either saw all of his potential and imprinted himself to the Hawke or Hawke treated him very well and the dog imprinted on him.
But i think the lack of a purebred Mabari may be due to Frostbite 3 and Bioware still learning how to use it. They would have a choice, go back to making the dog a full party member or a summon and since DA:I lacks summons. Shame as they had a lot of excuses to throw in a lot of funny scenes between him and the companions, advisers. And Leilana. If the Inquisitor gets a dragonling, i will be forced to do a Stenishok/Arishok no.
Aaaaaand another necro thread.
wow I started this thread before the game came out..good to see it back up and running. I would jsut like to say that after beating the game six times I think a mabari would have been great to have. I would have loved to have one that could be outfitted in armor and named. used in tactical combat as well as being able to heal out its own damage. I loved dog in DAO and I enjoyed leveling him up. I would have liked to see that in DAI but sadly we all know there are no pets.
Most definitely. This time though I would love if the dog was handled as a permanent summon. So a combination of your dog in DAO who was upgradable and a full member of the party, but also like DA2 where you can choose to unsummon or summon him as you wish and his placement in the party doesn't occupy a fully member slot, but simply that of a summon.
That said since a lot of people seem to want something different, the Mabari could alternatively be used as a racial perk for Humans. Elves, dwarves and Qunari could all have their own summon or equivalent perk to provide greater gameplay variation. Though that would likely mean the those summons wouldn't have much personality or interaction with the group.
i like this idea the most, humans get the dog, elves probably spider or wolf, dwarves a deepstalker or bronto, but i have no idea for the quanari

Qunari get nugalopes..or wyverns
Baby Griffin. Wanna name it Ghor. Mabari would be nice, but I like the previous look. It needs that 'I look like the monstrosity from Ghostbusters' build back. That roid rage monster dog. Bring that back, sure, I'll drag that death puppy about again. ![]()
Why not make it customizable instead of giving players a generic pet companion and say stick with it? I wouldn't mind a pet companion addition where you can adjust their abilities (they level up same as you so they don't get murdered by high leve enemies), their gear and kaddis (armor protects them from physical attacks, kaddis portects them from the elements). And most importantly, you should be able to choose what kind of pet companion you want to bring along with you same as mounts. Ranging from the old-favorite mabari to brutish nugs, from miniaturized bears/wyverns/dragonlings to demon cats (demon only, in name. what I mean by it is cats that can cast spells... somehow with a cute meow). Even mute golems
Because BioWare was not afraid to walk the extra mile when they created mounts. You can select a horse, a dracolisk, a hart, or even an overgrown nug. Customizable pet companions would add a lot to replayability. You can hire a hunter to find and train pets for you, though not for free. Once you get to Skyhold, you can curry favor from a magister which will greatly expand your pet arsenal. Each pet can have some kind of humourous interactions with other companions in Skyhold as it as seen with mabari in the camp in Origins or Hawke's mabari in their home. This is how I would like to see pet companions.
