BioWare, can you scare us?...

Some very scaring moments... Not just a mob jumping on you from a dark corner screaming like a pig, but a true horror atmosphere.
Fearless heroes with shiny armor disintegrating everything on their way became a bit annoying... One of the reasons I liked ME3 ending - you don't feel like a hero. You faced a force much stronger than anything you could imagine, and you can only follow the paths developed by this force for you, and die in the end. You feel small, weak, and falling apart.
I know that DA series is not a horror survival, but still I believe some very scary scenes (especially closer to the end and in the end) will only make the game much better. Feeling like unstoppable hero is annoying. Feeling dark phantasmagoric atmosphere in some really dark phantasmagoric places is great.
I'm not talking about making the entire DA:I like this. The Fade, the nightmares, some dungeons or crypts could have such specific atmosphere - a contrast to the regular fantasy traveling environment. Something that will make Dragon Age unique among the standard fantasy games.
So, BioWare, can you really scare us?

I play Bioware games primarily for the story and characters, not for cheap jump-scares or gross-out atmosphere.
And no, I'm not really a big horror fan.

That depends, is dragon age a survival horror game?
Like I said, I'm not talking about making the entire DA:I like this.
Fade and some other very specific places with such atmosphere would be more than enough.
Contrast between something very common and phantasmagoric horror within one persistent story is really great. The Last of Us game illustrates this concept perfectly.

One or two scary/creepy moments? I have no problem with that as long it makes sense.
Keep in mind that most of us didn't play Dragon Age looking for horror elements.

Creepy is more possible. Though I'm not personally all that keen.

DA:I will have Demons, bloodmages and probably darkspawn. They did make creepy moments in DA:O (broodmother).

Fade is the perfect place for horrors. Real horrors. Not just abstract landscape with blurry effect on it.
I'm talking about truly creepy moments, not a DA:O broodmother, or aliens jumping on you from the dark corners in AvP

In a game like DA franchise, you can have some creepy moment at best but it will hardly feel like horror, because this is not the point or purpose of the game.
So, the impact will be reduced and quickly forgoten by the other contant and event.

This one was unnecessary .
DAI is an rpg, not a horror game.
As I said in the other scare thread it's not Silent Hill or Resident Evil.

The most they'll probably get to this would be the broodmother portion. I doubt they'll go out of their way and change the mechanics of the gameplay suddenly in order to take away the players ability to cope with scenarios.
I believe the Fade is a perfect place for changing game mechanics to provide contrast to "real world". The Fade has to be different. And phantasmagoric horror atmosphere fits the place just perfectly, don't you think so?
I think DA:I needs much more Fade than DA:O and DA2 combined. Scaring Fade. Really scaring Fade.

Yesterday, I was replaying Call of Cthuhlu. Thinking about it, I realised that the most depressing thing about this game was that you were alone. And everyone you met that was not aggresive to you was eventually killed. Brutally even. Imagine that happening to our companions...This forum would probably explode!

Fade is not a place of horrors, sure is not the most hospitable place but it isn't a dark castle with monsters in it. It is a place with spirits and demons. And demons don't want to scare you, they want to tempt you and possess you (except some, hunger and anger demons are more direct).
It seems like you want an Amnesia moment. I am not keen to that idea, not at all really. The Inquisitor is a really badass character and can't be intimidated easily. He is fighting 2 wars at the same time. It would be silly if he get scared by some demon or monster.

I'm afraid you didn't read the OP carefully
I'm not talking about making the entire DA:I like this. Only some specific places and moments to provide contrast.

Sadly, they can't...And that's NOT because they aren't state of the art storytellers. It's because we have a party.

Its not impossible to do a level where the player is separated from their companions and scary atmosphere ensues.
A brilliant example would be the Hotel level of Vampire:Bloodlines. One of the scariest things I ever played in an RPG and there was no combat or real risk of dying.
But it would be hard to duplicate that magic and still keep it fresh. And Dragon Age.

Scaring you in the Fade. Separating you from some or all companions for some time, and scaring you even more after that... Making you believe that at some point you already left the Fade and proceed to the regular gameplay, and then suddenly bring back the horror again with real world shifting and changing, and your companions starting to act oddly...
...Sounds like a great idea
...Reminds me some perfectly made moments of GITS: Innocence. Oh, yes. That would be really awesome

Actually, you and the OP are both right. I had totally forgotten that you were alone in the fade parts...Yes, I can see this happening now. And it would be awesome (and of course hard to properly pull off). Consider me aboard the "horror in DA:I" train !
