This is sort of a what if thread I guess. I didn't hate DA 2's new direction followng Origins, but I think there were a few people who mentioned they were not thrilled about the main theme of Dragon Age 2 being about the Cirlce Mages and Templars.
I wasn't super excited about the prospect of a plot centering mostly around the Mage vs Templar dynamic either, but I am looking forward to dealing with the issue finally one way or another in the third game.
Thedas is a huge place and Dragon Age had a lot of potential subplots (and embattled peoples) to explore for future games. What else would you have been interested in seeing in DA 2 and now going into DAI?
After Dragon Age Origins, I guessed the most likely plot the following games would be about were the Qunari seeing as Sten and the codex set up the impending future invasion and massaive scale of the last one. And the little tastes we got of the Qunari/Human clash in Dragon Age 2 were the most interesting parts of the plot for me, so it seems like it could be really fascinating.
Personally I think I might have also liked to see a story that focused on the situations of the elves a little more. Not becuase I necessarily want to play a game about cleansing the Elvhen lands of the filthy shems or something but I've often felt there were a lot of interesting themes to explore for both humans and elves: the despair of trying to recreate a golden age that was forever lost, the suffering of a persecuted minority within human borders, how two groups would try to coexist (or not) in a lands they both want, how far either side would go to balance honour against the good of their people.
Stories about lost lost glory often really resonate with me, so I was somewhat drawn to the plights of the elves (and in particular the dalish) and the dwarves in DAO. I found the Deep Roads in Origins actually some of the most poingant sections of the game, if you stop and read all the surrounding codex and lore you can pick up along the way about the dwarves' endless war.
Aside from them, I seem to find the most fascinating parts of Thedas to be up north. Be they the Anderfels' grim war with the darkspawn or the multicultural community of Rivain. Since reading about them in World of Thedas, I actually felt like the plight of Seherons was quite compelling: a wartorn land tragically caught up in the unending conflict between two larger powers using their nation as a battleground.
Anyone else have something they really wanted to see?
What else might you have wanted?

I was talking more about the direction of the plot, not features in the game.

I hope the story is a more wide approach and not just about demonology, the fade and mage/chantry stuff. I'm still interested in the Darkspawn, Dwarves, Qunari, Dalish etc. and would like ot see it take a bigger role in the main story too.
