I never did a full dalish playthrough.

Alistair gave the Dalish the HINTERLANDS?!

No wonder I had the moron executed, he willingly gave land to vengeful heathen vagabonds; his decision would have doomed Ferelden.

What? Why not Brecilian Forest?

Gwaren's there. One of the bigger Fereldan cities. The hinterlands has nothing the humans will miss.

Well, I wasn't meaning the whole thing, just the deep forest part, the part near the coast that is between Denerim and Gwaren. As far east as they could go into it.

True that the humans wouldn't miss land that is devastated (except for the chasind?), but having a large group gather (who are armed) who will likely find a lot of struggle and tension (humans surrounding them, at least the deep Brecelian forest would be kind of isolated) will eventually cause issues.

Just some thoughts. I usually played mage and just asked for wardens to be remembered for my boon, so the hinterlands thing for dalish was something that I didn't notice until this thread and it just reminds me of when the Roman Empire let the Goths take a poor corner of the empire, leading to tension leading to rebellion. They should have packed the dalish in a distant corner where they can ignore humans and be ignored, just like they want; Hinterlands won't give them that, they won't be able to deal with it in the long run...

Queen Anora is willing to do the same for the Dalish; she's as progressive as Alistair in many respects. Sorry to disappoint you.

HA! "Progressive."

Allowing nationless Heathens to establish their little despotic state under your belly is a recipe for disaster.

But thankfully I always played a Human Noble so Anora being a weak-kneed moron to the knife ears isn't in my canon.

I hope we at least find out what's going on with that. I want to know what went so wrong according to Alistair. :S

Properly what always happens. One or both sides throws a fit and kills one of the other sides. Then everyone kills everyone.

I keep hearing the Devs have confirmed that at least one of the elven classes will be dalish. I'd have to dig through some threads to find a source, though.

I was just watching a video of all the ultimate sacrifice endings the other day and something struck me as odd; for the dalish origin, the lands are specifically given to the Warden's clan, with the keeper intending to move there immediately. Given that they're apparently going with a dalish ultimate sacrifice as default canon, it raises some questions as to why the Warden's clan is parked on Sundermount for the next eight years.

Didn't Marethari say she owed Flemeth something and that is part of why she was hanging around Sundermount?

I'd say that all the Dalish clans "owe" Flemeth something, even if they may not be fully aware of what.  The books and the game lore all make it clear that Flemeth is connected with "The People" somehow.  I'm personally convinced that she's Fen'Harel.  Her MO and her personality both fit the profile of a classic Trickster.

Given that under certain plot flags (not sure what) Anora is "forced to come down hard" on the city elves during a food shortage, I wouldn't go calling her weak-kneed about anything.

Coming down on the Knife Ears for starting a riot==being a proficient leader.

Granting vengeful vagabonds lands right under your belly==sheer stupidity and a sign of being a weak-kneed imbecile that can be pushed around.
