Slayer is special case, and asari... You`re not going to charge that much against collectors, so why not take any other grenade class?Project_Lazarus wrote...
The Slayer is also really good against Collectors, as is the Assguard

At least you will have the chance to get yourself to safety before you get splattered.Sebastianthorson wrote...

Praetorians are a lot easier to kill than Banshees because:UltimateSpinDash wrote...
I looked at the stats, praetorians have twice the armor and barrier of a banshee on the same difficulty. As much as I like having the collectors back, I don't understand why BW made them so powerful.
(1) They don't teleport to dodge your shots and instead drift very slowly like an idiot.
(2) They can easily be manipulated into standing still and firing their lasers, making them sitting ducks.
(3) Their headshot box is a loooot larger. So much so that it's hard to not score headshots against them.
(4) They suffer from double/tripple hits when you're using penetrating weapons.
(5) They don't have a move that regens barriers again and again regardless of timer. Instead they have possession which is a one time deal only.
(6) They are not deranged Asari b!tches who scream like bad porno actresses.
Seriously, Praetorians are big wussies. It's the Captains that are the real threat.

- Big heads mean easier headshots for not-so-sharp shooters such as myself. I also have a big head so big heads are ok.
- Keep moving around as a team and they get a lot more spread out;
- Not as noisy as reepahs
Reasons they're not ok:
- Off host cheats (butt lazers, scion time warp sniping, downed by invisible collector captain shots
- Casters getting power cancelled
- Too much AoE (clustergrenades / abnominations / swarms etc)

Troopers and captains are like any other mook unit, only really bad at melee, compared to marauders at least, get close and they will chase you a bit, not shooting, they take time to prepare for melee, the melee takes forever, doesn't stagger as much, and when it's over even possessed captains are as easy to stagger as assault troopers, and then they will try it again, sure they are tough and have good guns, but they also have big heads,
Abombs are still just husks+, punch them lightly and back up shooting
Scions suffer the same melee weakness as the troopers, only they deal more damage, take even longer, and have a sync kill at the end if you don't move out of range in the hour or so it takes them to actually preform the attack, also simply walking around them causes them to miss by miles, and they cannot shoot you while flailing like retards, and they turn slowly, and have to set up to fire after turning, making them laughable to melee builds,
Praetorians are vulnerable to walking backwards slowly, if you do it right they will take two steps try to claw you, miss, and try again, and they cannot block powers while doing this, if they do go laser mode simply walking sideways will usually make you effectively immune to them, because they take time to move the laser, and cannot adjust it, or you could just walk up to them and back off before they fire, to get them walking again
Obviously if you are limited by terrain or get ambushed you will likely die, because that is what they are good at
edit
Veteran players who know the timings can make collectors a cake walk, but obviously if you try to stay as far from them as possible, like any new player, you end up competing against their ranged attacks, Which are far more deadly than their melee, except praetorians I guess, but especially so for scions

Collectors always insta-stomp me, significantly more than any other faction. They even surpass Dragoons for their insta-stomping.

Give us a faction that has tricks for blocking/reducing weapon damage, sabotages our weapons to overheat all the thermal clips or something (like ME1) and so on, but not power damage, then we'll have some fun.
I'm a bit sick of this game boiling down to pure weapon dps because of this nonsense.

They don't have a single unit that's difficult to kill. Phantoms can be a pain, Primes suck, and even today if I'm clutching a wave with double Banshees I'll missile them because fighting two banshees is irritating. But Collectors? they got nothing. I'm convinced the reason Bioware made their troopers so tanky was just to offset their ridiculously large heads.

I don't get this argument about heads. Their heads are not that much easier to hit than Cerberus or Geth or Reapers. Reaper Cannibals are basically a 1 big head. And Collectors only have 2 units with such heads while Cerberus have at least 4-5.

If you're always getting headshots it's no difference. The heads have at least twice the profile as any other enemy and both Praetorians and Scions can take multiple hits when you headshot.

Same for lots of other enemies - Atlases, Brutes, Ravagers. Pyros. Engineers, Phantoms.
