In DA:O I never specialized in anything as a mage. I went with a damage dealing route, so Spirit Healer seemed pointless, especially because Wynne was in my party. Blood Magic went against my morals, so that was out of the question. Shapeshifter looked fancy and nice, but you can't use spells when in a form. Last, but not least the Arcane Warrior which just didn't appeal to me.

In DA:A I really liked both of those, due to the fun of a Battlemage and the roleplay value as an elf with Keeper, and it provided a short range protection and damage dealer.

In DA:2 I liked the Force Mage, but I felt forced (pun intended) into playing it because the other two didn't appeal to me. I would've have liked to have another choice for a fourth specialization.

So I'm just hoping they go back to giving us four options, that make sense in combat and that are fun to play. I'd also like to hear what everybody else thinks about this topic.

force mage was cool, battlemage was cool, keeper was cool (though not for my human mage)
i liked arcane warrior, and would love to see a less overpowered version in DAI, with more melee options at expense of magic, (see mod, single weapon talents for arcane warriors, DAO)
id also love a golem controller spec.
and some type of mage/stealth...backstab damage, invisibility, etc.

Force Mage was fantastic. Loved it. Arcane warrior was just boring since its primary use was passive thing. The only spells it had were sustained. I'd love to see something similar that's just based on sword mages and with interesting spells.

Battlemage was also pretty fantastic, but the cold blast spell was a bit overpowered. All the benefit of cone of cold, but bigger with no friendly fire!

I really like Arcane Warrior and Keeper, especially playing an elf mage. Spirit Healer as well, though I'd be surprised if the heal mage spec didn't come back. Force mage was my favorite in DA2, fun controller type spec.

The thing with Arcane Warrior was the sustained spells took away most of your mana and I'd prefer to use spells over a weapon anyway. I like what Skyrim did where you could blend the different classes into a unique one special to your game style, but I'd prefer to play a mage. Not a warrior/mage. Although, if they could find a balance between the mana requirements and weapon use, I could possibly play it.

Spirit Healer and Blood Mage are two specializations I couldn't see them taking away. Force Mage was a lot of fun. It was a ncie blend between damage and crowd control.
