I'm almost finished with my Gold Maps challenge, which means that I'm getting closer to dipping my toe into the Platinum pool. (It's immoral to burden other players by expecting to be carried on a higher level than you're prepared for, dontchaknow.)

The thing is that I hear nothing but horror stories here on BSN about Platinum pug matches, and I'm all about the pug life. Give me the straight dope about Platinum pugs. Similar to Gold? More trouble than they're worth? Nothing but Rio as far as the eye can see?

I'm Bestbox nobility, if platform makes a difference. Thanks!

People are picky when it comes to Platinum. I'm picky on a PUG platinum I spawn into or am joining. I look at their set ups and gears. If their set up sucks and they bring an awful gun, or are just there to missile glitch, it's kicking time.

IDK about xbawx, but on PC plat PUGs are OK most of the time. Clueless noobs mostly stick to gold.

QFT, because if you pug Platinum it's very possible that's what it'll turn into if you're not picky in the lobby. It's the main reason why most BSN'ers play Platinum with friends that we know can help carry the load.

Unfortunately, most Platinum lobbies are either glitchers, Rio/Giant campers or relatively inexperienced players who should be playing a lower difficulty.

Use the OP kits. AIU with Incendiary Reegar, TGI with PPR, etc.
Prepare yourself to carry, don't trust pugs. Kill fast, never stop. This way Pug Platinum is in a way easy, sometimes easier than gold because there are less annoying mooks. I'm lucky, because I've almost met only good pugs.

Still, I find gold funnier, I like to play with mooks!

Actually I have had pretty solid experiences on Platinum... almost every time the team has synergized and worked together. Also, it helps if you're a Geth Juggernaut... people rally around a Juggernaut.

If you don't feel comfortable with any kit on gold vs any faction on any map, then I wouldn't recommend you to pug plat, get friends to help you.

The only plat lobbies I ever run into are missile glitchers, Rio or Giant. Takes too long to find a legit lobby, so I don't waste the limited time I have to play.

I uup pugs sometimes, but mostly prefer it with friends.

I would have given up completely on platinum if it weren't for BSNers. I still pug every now and then on platinum and can honestly say I've only had two enjoyable pug groups in platinum where we extracted, one of which had BSNers (before I knew they were).
