Right, but honestly I think the backlash from people being actively locked out of specific romances, versus the backlash they get from people who complain that they have too many choices would be very different.

Also It wasn't just Anders bother fenris and Meril mentioned it and even thought it was as drastic it was a bit awkward (not so much with Fenris as he was very 'very well i just thought i'd put it out there never mind) but with Meril i felt bad to reject her

Added to which, it's usually your character who fulfils sidequests for money, so I think you got the transaction the wrong way round.

There's nothing more cringe-worthy to see in a game than a character who bends their sexuality only for the sake of being humped by the player. You want a fantasy RPG, or just some other form of porn to satisfy those social minority frustrations? Shh, don't tell me. I think I know.

I would enjoy it if they went the route they did in Baulders Gate 2, where the seemingly "right" choices to romance certain companions can actually backfire. Being super nice to them will sometimes lead to them leaving you, literally. Conflict and some tough love advice was sometimes needed to keep them around, not just constantly being sweet. I think they tried that somewhat with DA2 with the rivalry romances, but somehow it still didn't feel the same.

Only Anders and Isabela flirt without any provocation from the player. You flirted with Merril and Fenris.

I didnt press the flirt thing with either of them... I was nice to them, i didnt use the agressive thing but i didnt press the romance one with either.

The best example of that was probably Samara's scene in ME2. In fact I'd nominate that for the best romance scene of Mass Effect 2, even though it involves Samara shooting Shepard down.

Too bad that "In another time, another life..." was altered to mean "In the Citadel DLC."

Right, but honestly I think the backlash from people being actively locked out of specific romances, versus the backlash they get from people who complain that they have too many choices would be very different. 

That wasn't a gripe of DA:O though.  Sure some people wished they could've romanced Morrigan as a woman and Alistair as a man but that was more wishful thinking than actual complaints.  I've seen more complaints about the player sexuality of the companions than any kind of wishful thinking we saw in DA:O.

Would you rather the PC be the one to initate romance with the love interest? rather then the companions, (giving room for flexiblity with such characters as Zeveran and isabela) ?

err...  I think I'm good with just me doing the flirting thing.  Apparently I'm too nice and they get the wrong idea.  (Anders, alistair.<_<)
