That's all just to say, I personally have never had someone in my squad of whom I thought he/she/it performs particularly bad. Maybe I'm just overdoing the micro-managing, though.

I believe Tali is supposed to constantly have her drone draw the fire from her, and overheat the weapons of enemies or turn them to avoid getting shot at. In ME3 her drone(s) don't instantly get all the attention upon spawning anymore, but in turn she's apparently become a better shot.

Somehow Liara, Kasumi, Garrus, Jack and Zaeed constantly get downed with me:?

Yeah, Liara got more downed than anyone else. Tali had very powerful shields in ME1, but still managed to be downed very often. She gets much more resilient in ME2. Garrus manages to get mowed down easily too. In ME2 he has less health than Tali. Kasumi is pretty squishy too.
Did you, and the others that said Liara got "downed" completely overlook the fact she has a 2,5 second cooldown singularity?
2,5 seconds!

Well, I did find her drones do a pretty good job of drawing the attention of those Primes. And she definitely got a lot better in ME3. Her power suite in ME2 was underwhelming and the cool down on her drone was ridiculously long.

I had Vega go down more then Liara. Boogles the mind.
What difficulty level was this? I've only gone as high as hardcore, and he never went down for me. I did give him the Graal spike thrower though and level 10 Mattock, so maybe that helps.

That sounds...tedious
I generally play hardcore - and my squadmates (Liara, EDI, James) very rarely die.

Probably because you do a better job at micro-managing with your favourite character. I guess that's probably why I rarely have Tali go down:?

No, I just put Liara and Garrus/Kaidan/Javik in proper cover, I see no real need to manage Vega because I thought he could take the heat like Wrex and Grunt, i was wrong.Necanor wrote...

Actually, I was going to make just this comment, but decided to hold my tounge.
In truth, though, if you are managing one squad mate it seems unlikely you wouldn't manage the other at the same time. I just bring up the power wheel when we enter a room, scope the place for cover, and order both squadies into position at the same time before releasing the pause button.

Combined with an Adept yes, she have great synergy with a pure biotic character, dunno about other classes though.SNascimento wrote...

Try her with a Sentinel. Same synergy.

Liara represents her species quite well.

On a serious note, Stasis is very powerful with the level 6 bubble evolution. Combine it with her Singularity and she is the best crowd controller game. Now add in Warp and she can do serious damage to anything that doesn't have shields. I wouldn't call her overpowered, but neither is she useless on higher difficulties. She can stop grunt rushes dead in their tracks, and she is one of the best squadmates for a non-biotic Shepard.

I wouldn't say overpowered, because her abilities are counterbalanced with low health. She's basically the Mass Effect equivalent of a mage. She dishes out high damage but is squishy.
She is by far the biggest damage dealer of your squaddies if used correctly however. Or if you level up statis, she is good for CC.
It all depends on playstyle however. If a player likes running and gunning and doesn't give orders to squadmates, Liara isn't going to be a good fit for that player's squad. Squadmate AI leaves a little to be desired. If a player likes more tactical gameplay and frequently gives orders to squadmates, then Liara is easily one of the best squadmates in the game.
Of course player class is also a factor. If your Shepard is a biotic with singularity and warp in his or her skillset, Liara *might* not be needed unless you prefer a squad loaded with biotics.
