What if we don't romance anyone?

I understand that each romance unlocks different content for the player, encourages different interactions, etc. But what if you were not to romance anyone? What if you were to take the "loner" approach?

An example. In ME2, just before the suicide mission, you share an intimate moment with your loved one provided you had previously engaged in a romance. Even if you hadn't and, say, remained faithful to Ashley, you'd get a short cutscene of Shepard staring at her picture. It wasn't spectacular but it was a nice touch that showed Shepard remembered and cared. What happened if you didn't romance anyone at all? Straight cut to the action. Why? You could've shown a scene where Shepard contacts his parents, or a friend, or whatever.

Back to DAI. If our Inquisitor chooses not to romance anyone, will we also get different content? I don't know, maybe a conversation with Varric on the benefits of bachelorhood, or maybe a conversation with Cassandra on why their job (as it were) can't allow for personal attachment. I'd really welcome the opportunity to explore why our character chooses not to romance anyone same as the chance to explore why he chooses to romance a particular someone.

Cheers!

Bromances are required. Instead of a sex scene, it's just two character hanging out exchanging fistbumps.

If I remember correctly, I didn't romance anyone in one of my ME playthroughs and in ME2, Miranda just shows up and salutes you or something. I have one or two DA goes where I haven't romanced anyone. I am a little curious about this too.

I've asked about this topic before, and guess what reaction I got? People spamming "Forever Alone" memes and accusing me of being a crazy cat lady. Let's see if the romance crowd has gotten any more mature since then...

It's optional content. OPTIONAL. Why would they introduce mandatory content (the "phone your mom" suggestion) if you ignored the optional stuff?

"Sir, would you like the white or red wine?"
"Neither, thank you."
"I'll just get you a beer then."
"Wait! I didn't order a beer!"
"Well, sir, if you didn't drink the wine, then you have to drink beer. Those are the rules."

It was worth not romancing anyone in ME2 just for the awkward conversation you have with Mordin where he lets you down easy.

And worth noting only 1/3 Shepards had a parent to call.

Maybe he wants the option to phone his mum.

like a shepard garrus moment..that would be nice to have a friendship option like not a love intrest path but a best friend path..with interesting diolauge and possible companion quest simular to what the love intrest would have but with no sex

So what if the mandatory content was, say, a party member killing themselves if you didn't choose any romance options?

Then don't .
I am weary of the controversies over the romances.
So what if you miss a little content.
It would be so small in this game it won't matter.

then you would...not have a romantic partner in the game i presume? i guess a conversation or two about their lack of relationships wouldnt be terrible but i hardly see the point considering the situation theyre in probably isnt one that really warrants an active dating life in the first place so the inquisitor being single would probably just not be strange enough to comment on. tbh i think it would be kinda weird if some of my companions came up to me towards the end of the game if i hadnt romanced anyone to ask me why i'm still single.

That was better than any of the horrible sex scenes in the game. Well worth a non-romance run!

Why are you still talking about mandatory content? I'm talking about optional.

Yeah, I have to side with Angrywolves on this one. Why do people want a medal for doing nothing?

Should I also get more side quests for ignoring other quests? If I don't shop at game stores, should merchants start throwing free gear in my face?

"Thanks for not shopping here! Here's some ****ing leather armour, you ass!"

What bothered me about DA2 is that learning character defining info involving the companion's history required you to bed them. I thought Isabela was a flat chracter until i saw a post which stated that romancing her :( allowed you to learn why she's the way she is. I hope DAI takes after FONV in that trust allows you to learn about a character's past without sleeping with them or meta gaming.

People who skip sidequests don't get additional content as a result. Why should romances work any differently?

You... want to know why your character is doing what you are choosing your character to do?

Or are you saying that you just want your character to voice to the NPCs why they are in or not in a relationship?

The second option sounds pretty limited, and if your thoughts are not listed in the reasons why, wouldn't it be better to not have the scene then?

Edit: If they want to replace the romance cutscene with another cutscene that is about what the Inquisitor is currently up to or working on, sure, that's sounds fine.

Yeah I don't agree for additional content for the non romance. Why do you want this again? I have played most bioware games without romancing anyone and I was fine with the missed content

"Inquisitor, we need you to rescue the villagers from those Tevinter slavers!"
"No."
"Very well. Here's some free gold and XP."
