What is there to defend? Shepard doesn't own him. He is his own man.
Generally people, y'know, tell you they broke up with you before starting to date someone else and having a child with them.

If he had broken up with Shep beforehand yeah fair enough.

My point was never to equate Oghren's suffering with Hespith's, but merely to show that Branka destroyed the lives of everyone around her. She also caused the deaths of the couple hundred other members of her house in her mad quest for the Anvil.
The Anvil of the Void questline doesn't require Hespith to be in a relationship with Branka, but it does emphasize the depravity of her actions - that she would not only throw the other members of her house to the darkspawn horde, but her own lover as well. It's not to make some insane argument that all lesbian relationships are DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED to fail.

Did Isolde tell Eamon? We know Branka didn't tell Oghren. In Exile wrote...

I'm not sure if this is aimed at me. I've never said anything bad about Jacob.Filament wrote...
Too bad such progressive views of cheating have never been employed in Jacob's defense, as he could sure use it...

Well it wouldn't be cheating if he broke up with her before hand so whatever else they couldn't get mad about that *shrugs*.

The fact is that only about six people ever romanced Jacob - most people made him the butt of jokes - so it wasn't really worth the resources to carry the relationship forward into ME3. But he's still someone's imaginary creation - almost like your own child, in a way - so that person throws their sad Frankenstein's monster a bone in the form of a pregnant girlfriend and calls it a day, assuming that no one will care.

It kinda was, and you're right of course, it was a stupid generalization on my part. Sorry about that.Maria Caliban wrote...

I can appreciate the situation with Jacob because I know what's it like to create a character that you hope people will like but no one does.
The fact is that only about six people ever romanced Jacob - most fans made him the butt of jokes - so it wasn't really worth the resources to make him a squad mate or carry the relationship forward into ME3.
But he's still someone's imaginary creation - almost like your own child, in a way - so the devs throw their sad Frankenstein's monster a bone in the form of a pregnant girlfriend and calls it a day, assuming that no one will really care one way or another.
The furor over ME3 being what it was, however, threw these issues into the spotlight. If the ending hadn't been so badly-handled, the reaction to Jacob's cheating today might have been "Jacob who?"
