I would lean to this possibly being a spoiler, more speculation than anything, but since the spoiler forum is not up yet, I will post here. Other posts here contain big spoilers for ME2 so i hope I will be OK.
Like many others, I am replaying ME1 right now, I just got past the pat where Shepard is talking to Soveriegn, and he said something that really got my attention. At one point he says the reapers are "legion" that got me wondering.
This character Legion everyone is talking about, possibly being the geth wearing the N7 armor, what if this is Soveriegn? Tranfering his conciousness is something he alredy did when he took over Saren, so why not a Geth? Is this why he is obsessed with Shepard.
Another theroy could be that this is Shepard, hismind transfered into a gethf rom when he was being rebuilt or whatever.
thoughts?
I apologize in advance if this gets locked for spoilers.

sorry, but FACEPALM
The word "legion" as in "the Reapers are legion" almost certainly meant that they were of great number, rather than any reference to the new character. The word is an adjective, as well as a noun. It's not commonly used like this, so I understand your confusion.

you reading too much into it, like mewarmo990 said the reaper meant that they were many.
as for why legion is called legion i have no, since the geth get smarter when there are in big numbers is possible he some how was able to adapt core processors from other geth in to him.

When saying "we are legion" Sov refers to a demon mentioned in the bible. Don't recall his name, though. However, referring as something to be "legion" is often used to describe it as being a massive force in terms of numbers, way to many to count them.

"i am legion for we are many" is the quote from the bible in case anyone was wondering.
As for legion being called that my guess is its more of a play on the fact he seems to be as advanced as geth are when they are in a swarm yet is a singular entity, i bet they explain it in game at some point.

It's also a quote from the Ghost Rider movie.

It's been used so many times for a couple thousand of years before the Ghost Rider movie that... yeah, it's probably from that movie. xD
