If I were to pick the game in which the series "died", it would have to be the 1st one.

Why?  Bioware had no idea where they wanted to go with the trilogy.  It was essentially doomed from the start.

I find replaying ME2 is a chore until Horizon. I HATE re-doing Mordin's and Garrus' recruitment missions. It just feels like the handcuffs get removed and I can do what I want at that point. For ME3, the 'annoying' part for me is all the Citadel errands you get in the first act. Because of my gamer OCD I can't ignore them (Jondom Bau, Aria's merc errands, etc) but I'm always relieved when they are done. I like to get Omega out of the way before finishing Tuchanka. After the genophage is resolved one way or the other, I feel relieved as well.

Yeah I'm the same way about the Citadel quests. They're usually done pretty quickly though, except I'd like to threaten that Salarian black market dealer rather than fetch his artifacts. But ME2 is way worse on the chores. Planet scanning is atrocious, and upgrading weapons is terribad.

I usually save the DLC missions after Rannoch, except for Omega.

No game is perfect, and ME2 is not even close to being a good game.

If the series had died back in ME2 I wouldn't have gotten ME3.

And also, people have different tastes as well. Personally I find auto-dialogue to be a major offense, and on multiple levels.

Call me crazy, but I think the Mass Effect Trilogy died at ME3.

I don't know about that.

But......

ME2 is the easily the best game in the series. Easily bioware's best game. And eaisly one of the greatest games ever.

So, ME3 kinda had big shoes to fill. I don't think any game could have done it.

Maybe GTA5. But I'll just wait and see. ME2 is the best singlplayer game I've ever played.

ME2 was my favorite out of the three, but I enjoyed each one for different reasons.

YES.

ME1 was cool, but it was ME2 that Mass Effect became the generation defining franchise that we know.

Never knew crappy writting and subpar gameplay was "defining".

@SN

Uh, I thought you were joking. I'm going to continue to believe that you were joking anyway.

All the games are flawed, and different people have different tolerance levels for each flaw.

I can see why some would really dislike the game. I actually enjoy a lot of the writing, but it usually involves the character dialogue, not the plot itself.

They are not. But ME2 didn't have neither.

It had a great writing, the best in the trilogy, and also the best gameplay.

Generation defining? What?
