I really couldn't do any other tone than Snarky!Hawke. Sure, sometimes his jokes fall flat, and sometimes he throws out a really inappropriate one-liner, but that just makes him more of a distinct personality to me. Agressive and Diplomatic Hawkes just seem more like typical video game protagonists. Snarky Hawke seems like a person, reacting to the absolute craziness of his life. He can be charming, funny, and witty, but he can also be insensitive and callous, and all of it is just a mask he uses to keep the world at bay.

Snarky Hawke was my favorite personality also.

Pick a diplomatic or aggressive prompt if it was called for....and a snarky one most of the time.

Some great one liners, and also very 'stupid/flat' comments that made me laugh uncomfortably, and think 'What an ass!" But it then it was fun to play the character that way.....since irl I'd be totally diplomatic (and THAT was a boring, although feels good, playthrough)

I loved Sarcastic Hawke. Most people who voted on my Hawke Personality Poll thinks the same. Sarcastic Hawke really helped me back then when my father died. Dragon Age II was quite therapeutic for me.

I actually thought Sarcastic Hawke came across as an obnoxious twit.

EDIT: I'm all for sarcasm, but not in the same tone or way as "Silly Hawke."

"I have an excellent sense of dramatic timing...and good hair"

I loved the sarcastic options. I also thought the voice actors did an excellent job delivering them.

I'm definitely a fan of sarcasm, or just being a blunt smart ass. But I just didn't care for "Sarcastic" Hawke at the best of times in DA: 2. I simply was put off, and sometimes just a little disturbed by what he would say. I'm all for the sarcastic behavior returning, but I want something with more taste.

Agreed. I generally like sarcasm and dry humor, but the sarcasm option often did not result in a sarcastic but a lame response. I liked it in conversations with companions, where it is most appropriate, but in most other situations... no. I think it should have been balanced by the "charming" option more often, but I guess that might have been too similar to diplomatic.

You know, there is a big difference between throwing sarcastic replies here and there, when it is appropriate, funny and writing sarcastic replies whole game. That's why most of sarcastic lines in DA2 sucked.

This too. Because it is not really possible to always give a true sarcastic response, the writers seem to have struggled with creating a purple option for every conversation, which resulted in some very awkward and cringeworthy comments ("I want to be a dragon!" two times).

"What you think the Templars killed and ate your brother?"... I admit I played the sarcastic Hawke with a mix of direct Hawke... you never knew what was going to come out of my mouth... Sort of like real life. Yes sometimes the snarky was overdone but I enjoyed it.

To me they came across as totally socially inept/borderline sociopath.

Well don't choose that line! Hawke isn't some bipolar psychopath that exists in different planes of existence all at the same time. Of course she's going to be exactly that if you choose to go with the worst possible thing to say during the death of the Viscount's son.

I'm honestly gonna be disappointed if there are no sarcastic dialouge options.
I loved sarcastic!Hawke. Diplomatic and aggressive Hawkes seemed so incredibly boring after that.

So please, Bioware, make sarcastic!Inquisitor happen.

Keep in mind that different people have different ideas about what is funny, and even appropriate.  I'm not sure why the option shouldn't be available for those who choose (because you do choose) it.

Pfff.

Aggressive Hawke was the best. He could make a choice in Act II no one else could and HE did the pushing around. The best part was you could make an aggressive character who was good at heart. Aggressive Hawke was what Kirkwall needed. **** (female genitalia) Hawke and Jerk Hawke can go jump off a cliff and die for all I care.

"I don't like it when people interrupt my thoughts."

This sums aggressive Hawke up. Direct, methodically really (hence why he's thinking and planning in silence) and doesn't beat round the bush.

That's the type of Inquisitor we need too. Not some gibbering fool on the verge of a break-down cracking jokes as a coping mechanism because he's mentally unstable.

Vote Vincent Bastard for Inquisitor of Thedas 9:42.

I think more than just have some funny sarcastic lines here and there, they should keep the "Decide how you want to respond" dialogue mechanic. It gave us a bigger control on how our character interacted with the situation. You could be usually sarcastic, but when needed direct/aggressive or diplomatic... It gave personality to the PC in a whole new level.

I know it wasn't a perfect system. The way I see it, it gave us the choice of HOW we where going to respond at the cost of the choice of WHAT we wanted to respond. The Ideal way would be to give a mixture of both (like give us the different responses in the dialog wheel and we decide the tone by which button of the controller we press to select it), but that would be just too big a expense in voice acting and not possible, but a guy gotta dream right.

sorry if it got to long and unclear... this is my first post so.... sorry

My first DA2 playthrough was as a diplomatic Hawke, but my many playthroughs after that were all as sarcastic Hawkes.  I just prefer many of the humorous responses and like for my rpgs to have a bit of humor in them.

Knowing Bioware, there will be humor in DA:I somewhere.  Humorous dialogue is just something that they do, and do well.

Depending on the situation, I would pick diplomatic or aggressive responses, as opposed to humorous 100% of the time.  My Hawkes had a strong sense of humor, though they knew when humor was inappropriate.  Sometimes, it just made more sense for my Hawkes to be polite/sensitive or angry/forceful.
