I really hated that line, especially because it was autonomous, based on your dominant personality, so you could not even choose what to say there. If I want my Hawke to be funny with this friends but serious when it's about a poor woman who has supposedly been murdered and her hand cut off, that should be possible. I think that line is just sick. I want to play a funny character, not a sociopath.

Keep in mind that different people have different ideas about what is funny, and even appropriate.  I'm not sure why the option shouldn't be available for those who choose (because you do choose) it.

If you think that you can always choose sarcastic lines whole game and don't sound inapprooriate or awkward, even when your mother dies in DA2 or you're reporting to father that his son died, that's cool.
