There's nothing in DA2 that rendered DAO nonsensical.

Dragon Age hasn't made any egregious missteps for me. I love DAO and I love DA2. And honestly, based on what they've released so far (and if they can do justice to their claims), I think DAI has the potential to be the best game Bioware has made, full stop.

For some reason this made me laugh and unfortunately I was taking a drink at the time.

I enjoyed DA:O a lot and I still enjoyed playing DA2- not as much as DA:O but more than other games I have played. So not too hard for me to be enthusiastic for Inquisition- also really curious about the story and changes in gameplay.

@OP:
I experienced DA2 in a different way than ME3. It was a disappointment in several aspects, but the most important ones to me - characterization, roleplaying, story - were reasonably good and in places great. I hope that DAI builds on those strengths (we have no idea of that yet and can't because that would be spoilers) while improving the other parts, and the information revealed about DAI appears to point that way. Also, I like my Hawkes just as well as my Wardens and appreciated the more contained story DA2 attempted to tell.

As opposed to that, ME3's original ending retroactively tainted the whole trilogy for me, and even after the EC, I can replay the trilogy itself but don't have any desire to play or read more stories set in the same universe. New ME games, if they want to capture my interest, start at a significant disadvantage because several lore- and character-related aspects of ME3 tainted the universe for me.

HA! I know people like that -if they don't like something it is crap and anybody else who likes it has no taste. Man they are annoying-  they believe everything revolves around their world view.

Because for some of us, Bioware makes games as addictive and mind-bending as total Red-lyrium immersion. "Tis True", Morrigan would say!

You know,
all this excitement about DA III is kind of bothering me, as I gave up on the series after DA II. And it is not that I would NOT like to be hyped -- it's exactly the opposite -- but I just CAN'T get back into the world, I'm just stuck at the point in which even replaying DA:O or reading a DA book or comic makes so, so, so little sense that it's almost pointless, and I loved that game before DA II came in and ruined it -- everything about it -- for me. The same goes for my gf, who was truly dedicated fan of DA:O (and it was the ONLY game she ever played, as she despises them generally, not to mention that she is not fond of fantasy overall; so that means something.) So, I dunno, HELP ME, how can you be so excited about it? Cause I can't and can't and can't and the more screenshots and trailers and details surface the more afraid I am I'm not going to buy this game : / cause seriously, I know it was discussed over and over again, but the second installment really did kill all the magic, it really, really, really, really, really did, it ENDED it, simply put. (Even the menus in this game were so horrible, gawd.)

Well, if it killed it so badly for you, I'm...not sure how you expect any responses from us to help.  Some people didn't like DA2 but are hopeful for DA:I.  Some of us didn't like a lot of things about DA2, but reconsidered it over time and find it enjoyable if you set aside expectations that it "should" have been a clone of Origins.  The latter one is the camp I'm in.  I am excited for Inquisition specifically because DA2 did NOT kill it for me.

I really don't understand what you want, here.  You want us to give you a magic reset button to make you able to set aside your disappointment in DA2 so that you can find it in yourself to be excited for Inquisition?  I don't mean this snidely, either.

It's kind of silly to talk about how seeing all the screenshots, etc. make you MORE afraid you won't buy it.  If you just don't care about Dragon Age anymore, then what's there to be afraid of?  There's nothing wrong with simply losing interest in a franchise.  Gods know there are plenty of fandoms I once cared a great deal about but which don't enthuse me in the slightest anymore.

Here's a serious suggestion to the OP: If you disliked DAII so much, ignore the experience of playing it and look at the state in which it left Thedas. We have a world in which long-simmering tensions have boiled over and the established order is falling apart at the seams. The mages are in revolt and the Templars have split from the chantry. Is that not a world state on which an epic game could be built?

On another note, if DAII was such a huge change for the worse from DA:O, then why can't DA:I be a similarly sized shift back to a game that you will like? Do you think Bioware incapable of learning from the past?

While I was very disappointed with DA2 and since the goodwill from DA:O wore off I found it unplayable. The things I hated about DA2 (human only protagonist, tiny, reused, uninteresting areas, bland, disjointed plot, etc...) it seems like they are being reversed and in some cases even improved so I'm excited.

Mass Effect on the other hand...the entire third game (not just the ending) was so horrible and jarring to me that I can't bring myself to ever play the first two again let alone any future installment despite my intense love for ME1 and 2.

My excitement towards a new installment in a series I've enjoyed bothers you because you don't share it?

That's a mature way of looking at things.

I don't believe you're sincerely looking for a way to build hype for this game, you're just another person trying to diminish it for others because you somehow feel personally betrayed over how the menu was set up in DA2 or some such rubbish. And god knows you're the bees knees whose opinion on anything is the be-all-end-all for everyone else. DA2 had it's flaws, sure, but I don't read Asunder or see an intriguing new gameplay mechanic and go 'oh sure, I can see how this would be compelling if it weren't for that cave in DA2'.

I'm excited for Inquisition because I am confident that I will enjoy it just as I have every other BioWare game, particularly the DA series.

The Dragon age team just did a good job of making me crazy for this game.
I approve of the things I've seen so far.

At least now i get to choose if i want to be a human or not again.
Also DA2 wasn't as bad to me as some fans made it out to be.

DA2 irritated me so much that I am not actively following any info on DAI. That being said, what information that has found me seems promising. I'll probably get it and like it, but I'm going to wait for a good sale.

Yeah I'm liking what I'm hearing so far.

But when I start to feel hyped, I just think of ME3, and that brings me back to Earth.

I loved DA2. We complain about it because most of us loved Origins so much more but DA2 wasn't a bad game.

It was rushed and didn't have allot of the stuff that made Origins amazing but as a game it was fun and I have played it almost as many times as Origins.

Am oblivious to DA2 and ME3 pain; enjoyed both games; prefer the DA series as Fantasy > Sci-Fi personally. What I enjoyed the most of the past couple of months was watching actual game play footage; wish this had been produced professionally more like SWTOR has done.
