Am oblivious to DA2 and ME3 pain; enjoyed both games; prefer the DA series as Fantasy > Sci-Fi personally. What I enjoyed the most of the past couple of months was watching actual game play footage; wish this had been produced professionally more like SWTOR has done.

I think if Bioware hadn't rushed DA2 out and had released ME3 with from ashes, Leviathan and the Extended cut (maybe some of the companion stuff from citidel too) in the game people wouldn't have hated them so much.

Hey look, a pointless thread.

oh - great, a buffoon...did they allow you out of the corner the teacher placed you in to keep you seperate from the other children?

as for hyped:

well, there aren't all that many good RPG-Games with a Fantasy-Setting out there (at least ones that i like - "The Witcher" is pretty nice, but it doesn't strike as big a chord withing me as Dragon Age does)

Most other Games in that Sector are not all that much to my liking (there are some with a future-setting like Mass Effect (but hey: ME3 was WORSE (!!!) then DA2), Fallout (i love New Vegas!) but even that's not that many)....

And for a gamer who only plays:

- Shooters (yes, even COD - though i like things like Bioshock (even Infinite - also they tried appealing to the COD-Crowd, which i hated!) better, where you have powers and some such more then run of the mill "here grab a gun and shoot everything that moves" ones!)

- RTS-Games (and even there my tastes are unique - i loved Command and Conquer for example)

- Action-Games (like Assassin's Creed)

and RPGs, there is nothing better then being told a game is more or less exactly what you like (for me: Story-Driven, strong companion-characters, decisions (i like deciding how stuff plays out!), character-development and even romance-options)...so yes, i am hyped (i am cautious, though - they disappointed me two times in a row now (not even counting SWTOR - meaning: DA2 and ME3)...so i don't know if i will pre-order!)

greetings LAX

Bioware did a horrible game and this is ME3... and this game made me seriously worry about the future of bioware games. While DAO and DA2 both were good games and I'm kinda sure DA3 will be too, i'm not keeping up my hopes that high again, as I did the same with ME3.

All I can do is sit and wait, so far from what they showed with DA3 is satisfying and I'm happy (most satisfying is the ability to finally choose races) =]

The hype is a curious thing. It makes me enjoy a lot the wait for a game, but it can easly contribute to ruin (or, at least, seriously limitate) the "enjoyability" of a first playthrough. DA2 was dissapointing for me partialy because of the hype. The same story with, for example, Deus Ex Revolution. So now I carefully limitate the hype factor.

About Dragon Age Inquisition, my plan is to wait for some key reviews (from guys I trust in) and except the opinion is overwhelming positive no buying abouve 30$ or so. If anyway I like it a lot, I know I can reward Bioware in some way or other after (DLCs, collectors edition,...). I must confess, not without shame, that the ME3 burning still hurts.

By the way, Allan, I don`t know where the problem is with Total War: Empire. ¡Terrific game!

Speaking as someone who adored DAO, and felt badly let down by DA2, I'd say I was encouraged and optimistic at this juncture. Many of the issues that struck the worst chords for me in DA2 seem to be getting addressed: NPC customization is back, tactical camera is back, race selection is back, multiple play throughs sound like they're going to be more rewarding. All good things. The only genuine sour note for me is that initiating conversations with your companions still is being restricted to safe zones so it sounds as if the feeling that you once again have traveling combat assets rather than people will be making an unwelcome return. But, this s an area where hopefully Bioware can implement it n a way that reduces that feeling and, on balance, I'm still willing to give it a go with as open a mind as I can manage since they're definitely making a lot of big improvements in other aspects. The art style that i hated in da2 remains a bit of an open question. Sometimes the screenshots look good, sometimes they remind me too strongly of da2. The jury is still out for me on that. The head shot of the elf redesign looks vastly better but we haven't seen an elf with color/texture yet and I'm still edgy until I see an elf in game. The dorkspawn of da2 badly need fixed and this has not yet been addressed.

So, there's a lot dai is doing that leaves me, on balance, quite optimistic. That said, i will probably end up buying used for console since I strongly expect EA tp once again foist mandatory origin on pc players like myself. If by some miracle EA amends its t&c/eula to be more acceptable to me, or drops the requirement, I'll probably buy new after reading reviews by players.

But bioware is making a lot of positive changes and I'm still willing to forgive given all the great times I've had in the past with their games.

Because I loved Origins and liked DA2. True DA2 had some problems, but it wasn't enough to push me away from Dragon Age as a whole.

Considering I love Bioware's work, it's not surprising at all that I'm looking forward to the game.

It doesn't help that the information is being given at a snail's pace.

P.S. The human males look amazing so I know I'm going to have fun customizing the character and going around changing the world while hooking up with an equally hot human male.

Bioware games are a gem. Regardless of ME3's ending, and DA2's general suckiness...what other game will let me create my own character and forget the world around me...buried in quests, companions, lore.

I can't help but to be hyped. I know the classic Bioware formula: your own character, your own choices, talking to party members, and lore.

Despite all of it's flaws I enjoyed DA 2 for what it was. An OK game that could have been better. But they have learned and listened from feedback they got from DA 2 and they appear to be going back to some of the things they did in origins that people loved while retaining the things they did right in DA 2 (yes there are things DA 2 did well). Not to mention the level design alone looks extremely ambitious. They appear to be building on their strengths while addressing past mistakes. Of course you could see they were going back in the right direction with the DLCs for DA 2. Both with Legacy and MoTA you could see they had learned what people didn't like about DA 2 and worked to address that. So OP you can still be butthurt about DA 2 and miss out on potentially a great experience DAI or you can remember what you loved about DAO and realize that the dev team learned from both their experiences with the feedback and their previous work with both DA games and experience a product that brings back what Origins had while improving upon their previous work.

I know Bioware, with the extra time, will have a great story and characters that will allow me to replay the game numerous times as I have with the previous two games

I was a burning feverish fanboy after DA:O (despite the crap DLC, which I somewhat defended, despite better knowledge). ME2 was pretty good in my opinion, But DA2 and ME3 has rather left the fanboi par of me in cinders. And hell hath no fury like a fanboi scorned.

I have seen the vids with Mike Laidlaw, and he is prodding the cinders of my fanboy ashen state to give life to the tiniest flame of a begining of a begining of sceptical curiosity. However since both Bioware reps and fans here on Social were pretty much peniswipping themselves in flaggelantic glee over how great both DA2 and ME3 would be, I am not taking anyone, least of all the fanbois very seriously.

However. I wont be preordering and I wont be buying the game untill at least a couple of months past release. I want it tested and scrutinized by the trolls, ex fanbois (who will go over DA:I with a toothpick and a magnifying glass) and I want the worst kinks (every game has them) sorted out in patches... before I even consider a purchase.

Lets face it. It has to be great and it has to deliver, because Bioware can ill afford another ME3 "debacle". However since there was a ME3, there will be alot of people just itching to go over it critically, and the magazines that had to face critizism for giving it a 10/10 score will be significantly more carefull with another "Bioware, a division of EA" product.

But keep Laidlaw doing interviews. I want to belive that guy.

Me excited .
Not quite.
I was a member of the old preEA forum back in the days of Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2.
Was primarily an FF fan though.
Bought DAO and thought it was one of the best rpgs ever made.
Bought DA2 and was disappointed.
Wished that Bioware had made console versions of some of their earlier games. Wonder why they didn't .
DAI looks better than I thought it would. Been accused of hating Bioware .
Don't hate them, just don't like all the mistakes they've made.
Been an rpg player for a long time, since the Nintendo/Super Nintendo days.
Picky about what I like in an rpg.
While waiting for DAI intend to play my backlog of games, maybe buy a few new ones.
Looking forward to Project Eternity. I have a lot of faith in Chris Avallone.
Sadly he doesn't like romances rotfl. If there are none it won't deter me as I have a lot of faith in Obsidian to produce a quality rpg.
So the wait continues.

You must be new to the forums. The ****storm that the endings and the "We Are Listening" ™ posts were legendary to the point where EA beat Bank of America as "worst company of the year".

No mean feat.

EA beat bank of america solely because they loudly endorse homosexual relationships. Serious, EA sucks but the deciding factor for some was pretty god damn stupid.

Anyway, while they made a ton of missteps, Bioware never could win for some. An example: People complained that Saren was a lame final boss, so they gave the Reaper. People said the Reaper was too contrived and and they'd rather fight waves of collectors while defending the bomb as it would feel more visceral. So then Bioware got rid of the final boss mechanic and instead you fight off waves of enemies while defending the missile. Then People complained that it wasn't epic enough and lots and lots of 'why didn't we get to fight harbinger at the end' posts.

Yeah, anyway, this topic is kind of silly. DA:I looks decent enough to get people excited. i guess only those betrayed superfans are mad that people dare get excited over a new bioware game.

I'm "hyped" because I love the Dragon Age series. I own all the games, almost every DLC and all the books. There hasn't been a lore that has gotten me so enraptured in YEARS (last being the Dragon Lance series) and I know it has potential.

Bioware is also a pretty great RPG creator.Sure, DA2 had it's faults but from what I've been hearing and watching they are addressing the biggest ones of them. I also have faith in the lead writers to deliver great characters like Alistair and Morrigan again.

I will likely pre-order the game on faith. I enjoyed DA2, the story was still good even though it lacked re-playability.

I'm not exactly hyped and excited, but more of "cautiously curious" about the game. A recent finishing of Dark Souls left me with a lingering hunger for medieval fantasy with a strong challenge, and DA:I may very well offer that. I generally have problems enjoying party-based games(with a few exceptions like Valkyrie Profile or Secret of Mana), but Dragon Age may do it for me. I enjoyed Dragon Age 2 enough that I can give it a second chance.

Between the tumbleweeds passing in the Mass Effect forums, and virtually no new information coming out yet for an ME game, I've migrated here instead for the time being.

Here's where I stand on the official unofficial semi-confirmed Inquisition Excitement Scale™.
