KOTOR remastered (or whatever name you see fit to give it) is basically KOTOR, both 1, and 2, reimagined with current gen technologies and ideals in mind. I dont just mean better textures and lighting effects either, i mean completely reworking the game from scratch to deliver the story and experience of the old KOTOR games in a whole new way. Although i would be happy to see this in any form my vision for it is as follows:
The DND style character progression is still in place, with the attributes, skills, feats, and powers system from KOTOR still working the same way as it did before, albeit with different feats depending on the next thing i would like to mention.
Overhauled combat system: for every new dragon age game it would seem the combat system has been changed to try and perfect it and make a really awesome game. While i still enjoy the combat system in KOTOR, i must admit it feels old. I think if this idea were to be made a reality, the combat system needs to be changed.
Enhanced conversations: First of all, it would be nice to see kotor working the same way as mass effect, swtor, and dragon age, with the new option wheel in place of the list of options, as well as the main character's options being fully voiced (***SPOILER ALERT***) it would be nice if you could get the voice actor for revan in swtor to play the male character's voice and possibly the exile in swtor to play the female voice in kotor 2 (without the spooky ghost effects of course) (***END SPOILERS***) In addition to all this, it would keep a nice refreshing touch to the game to expand upon the current conversations in the game, convincing some npcs to do things that werent possible in the original (nothing that would change the story too radically of course) like for example a group of thugs were to ambush you while you are trying to complete your mission, and previously you could talk to them and try to talk them out of it, but ultimately no matter what they would attack you (fake example of course), in this new recreation, however, it would in fact be possible to get the thugs to stand down. with an xp reward equal to what you would have gotten from killing them.
KOTOR 2 implementation with KOTOR 1: KOTOR 2 added some new features to the game, like influence, weapon swaps, etc. It would make KOTOR 1 a more enjoyable experience to implement these new features into the first game. While on this subject it is important to me to note that this also includes lightsaber color crystals that were available in kotor 2 as rare items, such as silver, veridian, and cyan crystals, as well as not so rare items like flowing robes, instead of the kotor 1 robes that were static and boring.
New Game Plus: its been a while since i played kotor 1, but in kotor 2 there were many items and crystals that you could only acquire right near the end of the game, and as such you did not get much use out of them. It would be nice to implement a new game+ system where you can start over from the beginning with all your levels, powers, and items from the previous playthrough, the items being accessible from your footlocker that you loot at the beginning of the game. More powerful enemies should spawn to fight you, of course, since previously you did not have lightsabers and force powers until a later part of the game: the sith are looking for you on taris, for example, add some dark jedi to the mobs when in new game +.
Expanded Environments: In addition to adding new conversation options that were previously not available before, an overhaul of the locations you visit would provide an excellent opportunity to add additional areas, including secrets, easter eggs, and even brand new side missions.
No SWTOR style graphics: Take the graphics seriously, dont take the cartooney approach you did with swtor.
New Endings: I'm not saying you should change the story too drastically that it would break the lore in swtor and any books based off the series, but in mass effect 2 there were tons of different endings for the game, and that was awesome. In KOTOR, there were 2: a Light side one and a dark side one. Expanding upon the conversations would give the chance to create multiple new outcomes to the story depending on the choices you made along the way.
CO OP: Neverwinter nights had co op in the game and it was nice. KOTOR was similar in almost every way to neverwinter nights but for some reason co op was not included in the game. I've wanted to show friends who have not had the pleasure of playing kotor this game but they do not think it is worth it if we can not play together. To keep things balanced, a player joining your game will take the place of one of your companions, so as a result there will only be maximum 3 player co op, it would be the first time ive seen an odd number of max players in a co op game, but unless the single player is reworked to allow 3 companions then 2 extra players seems to be the only reasonable maximum. When playing co op, players will roll for conversation options like they did in swtor, if there are friends wanting to all pick the same option this wont be a problem.
Hide Helmet option: We all know you wish this was in the original kotor games, it just looked wierd for a jedi to be wearing those wierd goggles and stuff but you wanted to because of the bonuses they provided. Its time to finally implement a hide headgear option.
Your Choices matter: Like i said before, nothing that would break the lore too much, but i thought it was very interesting to see, in mass effect, the choices i made and the quests completed in mass effect 1 carry over into mass effect 2, and seeing the longer term consequences of my actions. With kotor 1 and 2 it would be nice to see this kind of thing applied, like for example (***SPOILER ALERT***) If Carth or bastilla do not survive the events of KOTOR 1, they will not show up to help the exile in kotor 2, and instead of you deciding whether you played a girl or a guy, and whether you were light or dark, when speaking with atton in kotor 2, that will be decided by your imported save game from kotor 1. (***END SPOILERS***)
edit:
Basically make this, gameplay-wise, what KOTOR 3 would have been if it were made, just with KOTOR 1 and 2's story and setting
