Assuming those two things weren't options, who would have taken the final blow against the archdemon? Your warden or Alistair? D:
If you chose one of them anyway, who did you choose?
No dark ritual, and no recruiting Loghain

I would, since Alistair is needed on the throne.

This was my jackass playthrough, so Alistair.

For me, since I couldn't stand Alistair by the end of Origins, I would have sent him. Usually I wouldn't make selfish decisions like that, since it would probably hurt Ferelden. But seeing how Alistair acted in the Landsmeet... I just wouldn't be able to shake my decision in this case.

"Greater love hath no man..." My warden wouldn't have asked his brother warden to do what he wouldn't have. My ladies were a different matter since Alistair takes matters into his own hands. And I really really hate the "Warden Commander" and "Redemption" endings for the complete epic fail of Bioware's post coronation scene there.
The funeral scene is much better than Anora's coronation party.

Alistair did embarrassed me during the landsmeet. He expressed how he did not want to become the new king, and whined about it like a little child. He did annoyed me quite a bit considering the fact that I've busted my ass to put him on the throne.
However............
Given the history of this man he hasn't been given any sort of formal training whatsoever for leading a country, let a loan leading an army. He was uneducated. It's is only normal that he reacts out of fear. In Awakening I knew I did the right thing by making him King. He seems to do just fine leading a country once he gets the proper training and education to lead.
In DA2 when he attempted to speak with the Champion of Kirkwall before he was bambarded by the wrath of Knight-Commander Meredith he seems to be taking the job as King quite well.
I knew I did the right decsion by making him King.

I've had two Wardens choose Ultimate Sacrifice; only Brosca got to go through with it. I haven't yet played a Warden who's ordered Alistair to his death, but he took the initiative himself once.

If that had been the case, my warden would have done it.

I really enjoy the Ultimate Sacrifice where I do it myself. I mean my Warden does it but I've only done that once, I think since I always use the dark ritual.
