Bit late to the party, don't
know why I waited this long to play them but now that I am I am over the moon.
But have a few questions as I am a bit lost.

I am
most likely going with solider first play through as I do want to finish all
the series with all the classes, and solider seems like a solid first choice, I
have read comments saying its simplified but I do plan on taking full control
of my units so ill be using the companions skills anyway.

let's hope I word this
right, I know there is new game + and a insanity difficulty which requires you
to beat hardcore for each game, once unlocked could I choose my favorite
character example solider for a new game + in me1 then once completed port it
to me2 to continue the insanity run thus keeping all the choices I made in one,
so play 1,2,3 on insanity porting him over each time to the story flowing or is
it a game by game thing and there is no way to connect the stories. Just asking
because if I was to play a class a second time on insanity I would not play him
the same way I did the first time with choices and would want that to reflect
in the second/third game.

Thanks for the help i know the question is a bit dumb but seeing all 3 games are out now i no longer think of them as me 1 2 or 3 and just mass effect and would want to play the whole series with on character.

I don't think ME2 and 3 insanity require you to beat lower difficulties first. ME1 insanity is meant for characters with high levels, ME2&3 insanity is just a more difficult setting. Hope that answers your question.

Yes, you can import a character from ME1 to ME2, and then from ME2 to ME3. So you can use the same character all the way through from ME1 > ME2 > ME3.

As for Insanity and NG+...
In ME1, you must unlock Hardcore by completing the entire game on Veteran, and then unlock Insanity by completing the entire game on Hardcore. Completing the game creates a file that you can use to import the character into ME2, or use to replay ME1 with all your equipment and skills intact. The file contains a record of your choices which will carry over to ME2.

In ME2, Insanity is unlocked from the start. When you complete the final mission (Suicide Mission), you can can use any save after that point to import into ME3 or to replay ME2 with all your weapons and skills intact; upgrades do not carry over and you have to find/research them again. The save keeps a record of your choices that will carry over to ME3.

In ME3, Insanity is unlocked from the start. You must beat the game before you can use the character in NG+.

Some additional notes:
  • When importing from ME1 into ME2, or from ME2 into ME3, only the choices you made in that save file will be used. To clarify, if you played as Soldier once in ME1, it creates a file you can use to import or replay ME1. If you choose to replay ME1, it creates a new file when you beat the game. Both files contain a list of choices you made throughout the game; the second file coontains a record of only the choices you made in the second playthrough, it does not record the choices you made in the first playthrough.
  • In ME1, you are restricted to level 50 on a first playthrough. The level cap is 60.
  • In ME2, the level cap is 30, but the character skill trees are different so do not feel like that is a step backwards.
  • When importing from ME1 to ME2, a level 60 character starts at level 5 and with some extra credits. A level 50-59 character starts at level 3 and with some extra credits.
  • After completing ME2, you should unlock an achievement that adds extra XP for completing missions.
  • A character imported from ME2 to ME3 will keep the same skills. HOWEVER, it strongly recommended that you reset your character's skill points in ME2 (but do not assign those points to any skills) before importing into ME3, as this will allow you to start with a blank slate with all skill points available to assign when you start ME3. Each class has gotten a new class-exclusive power in ME3, a new passive tree called Fitness, and some of the skills have changed, so starting with no points assigned will allow you some flexibility right away.
  • The level cap in ME3 is 60 again because of the new talents and expanded skill trees.

wow lol, man i love hard games but this is nuts not a qq just shocked, so I'm on vet going after my last squad mate I'm assuming and at the place where the ship drops in those frogs and the really really big robot guy. Even if i get my guys into cover they die in 2 seconds flat, even using there abilities, i can die within 1 second because the after the cut scene they leave you out in the open even if i run for cover they get me down too 1/2 hp. think this is going to be normal or easy and ill just move on too mass effect 2 and 3.

edit: awww now its too easy on normal lol still fun as hell 9/10

Why in the world does BW love to drop Sheppard naked and unarmed into the middle of a dozen armed enemies with no time to prepare? Personally, I find that goes against the spirit of smart squad management. It just makes it into a shooter rather than a more tactical game.

Had a bad run with the game crashing still does crash but seems random and I seem to get a few hours out of
it I just save all the time now.

As for difficulty I am on vet with my Sentinel, I run Kaidan Alenko and Ashley and finding it easy as pie lol solider is a false sense of security. Between Kaidan and me we both have good Electronics for survivability have 1 point in all the abilities that are available at the start, got him concentrating one half and me the other ie I take lift and throw etc.

Already up to where I was and we are dominating, so much more fun throwing around abilities, and with both Kajdan and I having all the abilities even though one of us might not do as much damage with a certain spell we have amazing cc.

Thanks for the help guys
