It would've been the perfect moment to give fans the complete editions of each game instead only some of the dlc for mass effect 1 is in it I just don't understand why they wouldn't have included all the dlc with the games......?

At the time of the Trilogy edition being released. Not all of the DLC was out. Citadel and Reckoning were yet to be released.

well ok but all the dlc up to citadel or just most of the singleplayer dlc it makes no sense to not at least include the dlc that was out already....

If they did that they would be pulling a Gearbox. Say, if someone bought it as it was advertised to include all the DLC and then a few months down the road they announce Citadel, people would feel ripped off and lied to, and we really don't want more of that.

why they wouldn't have included all the dlc with the games......?

Because you can make more money if you sell DLC separately? Just because every other GOTY edition comes with all the DLC included doesn't mean that EA can't squeeze a bit more profit from customers.

At the time of the Trilogy edition being released. Not all of the DLC was out. Citadel and Reckoning were yet to be released.

1) All of the ME1 and ME2 had been out when the Trilogy edition was released
2) Maybe that means that you should wait with releasing the uber ultimate complete trilogy edition until after all the stuff has been released? You know, like all the other GOTY editions out there?

True but then on the opposite end of the pool they shouldn't have released the trilogy edition until the citadel dlc was released and then offered all the dlc in one package giving fans the ultimate experience or newcomers to the series

I guess they make a lot of money with people buying DLCs.
I mean, who plays all 3 games and does not want to see what Citadel DLC is about or what Leviathan really means?

Want to see it,? Sure. I'd pay about $3 for it, I guess.

Bio is leaving money on the table by not dropping the prie. OTOH, they probably don't want to train people to wait for the sale.

They make more money this way, but not just because some people who buy the trilogy set go on to buy the DLC. It's also because this way they can justify charging a lower price for the trilogy which in turn encourages more people to buy it - I can think of a couple of friends off the top of my head who bought the box set because they were pretty much getting three games for the price of one. Chances are that BW determined the standard-content-lower-price version would make more sales and more money in the long run.

I'm an accountant, so that will be £50 for this financial advice please :D

That reminds me of a joke:

A management consultant arrives on some meadow where a  shepherd is herding his sheep. He asks the shepherd wether he would be willing to give away one of his sheep if he told him how many sheep he possessed. The shepherd finally agreed.
The management consultant used satellite images, messed around with excel tabulars and finally told the shepherd, that he had exactly 131 sheep.
"That's right", said the shepherd, choose an animal. The consultant looked around and finally settled for one. When he took the animal, the shepherd asked: "If I tell you your profession, do I get my animal back?"
The consultant agreed.
"You are a management consultant", said the shepherd.
"How did you know?" asked the consultant.
"Three things", the shepherd replied. "You came here, though nobody asked you too. Second, you want money from me for telling me something I already know. Third, you have no clue what I am actually doing. And now give me my dog back."

You'd be hard pressed to find an EA published game that will have a "Game of the Year" edition, or something with all DLC included. When was the last time you ever saw a piece of DLC discounted on a console? 6 year old DLC still goes for the same price it was when it launched.

EA effectively have the monopoly on their DLC (on consoles anyway - they can charge what they like, and you'll have to pay it). Different case with PC gaming, due to piracy, obviously.

GOTY.... and you have to buy all the DLC at internet price's that scarely move up or down?

Buyer's of merchandise and product love a good deal. A good deal reflects well on the product being bought at the outset of the purchase.

High time EA stopped looking at it's bottom line figures for how much momey they can potentially pull in and take both that, and customer satisfaction into account.

Because EA's monopoly of certain studios is the only thing that is keeping customer's coming back to them. If EA stood alone, with it's less than steller reputation amoung the gamer's it cater's to, it would be in even worse trouble.

It's impossible to get the DLC for original ME1 now. They're only on Origin, and Origin has taken them down. I have never, ever in my life, played Pinnacle Station or Bring Down the Sky and now I never will. (Unless I pirate it I suppose but what stupid compromise is that? Make the DLC available again EA!)

Nah, it's still there - at least for the PC. The download from the official Bioware site is still working: http://masseffect.bi...nthesky_pc.html

Just dowload - ignore the other steps, because they are outdated - and install it, it comes with a universal key these days.

Yup. Bring Down the Sky is still available to download but EA has taken Pinnacle Station off from Origin, effectively making it unavailable for PC now.

Also EA discounts the Battlefield DLCs and released a "Premium Edition" that contained all of the bonus content. Why couldn't they do that with Mass Effect?

Funny thing, I recently bought ME1 and 2 (ME3 was already in my Origin library) and both ME1 DLCs were present ingame, just like that. Even show up with distinct keys in the config tool. I just installed ME1, never bought or installed any DLC seperately.

...and I have the original on-disc, which is ALSO registered in Origin. No DLCs, despite Origin recognising its legitimacy. So now if I want to play DLCs so many years old they're practically defunct... I have to repurchase? ****. That.

Again: just go here masseffect.bioware.com/me1/galacticcodex/bringdownthesky_pc.html , download and install if you wanna play Bring Down the Sky. It is the official download and it is still working. You don't even have to register ME1 in Origin.

I prefer using this download link because it has been modified not to require the CD Key.

Thanks guys, you're stellar.
Nothing for Pinnacle Station though? Is that truly lost to legitimate means? :c

I've contacted Origin support regarding that issue. Let's see what they have to say.
Fun fact: According to their website, it will take them between 2 and 14 days to answer. :o

EDIT:
I've got an answer from Origin... sort of. They finally responded after 4 days or so, telling me to go to some website to enable their support team to make changes to my account. Which sounds like a bad idea to me. Sry guys, I'll not persue this any further and risk getting the DLC removed. <_<
