Ok...I know I sound like a broken record but WHY is it ok to bring back a dead Lelliana and a dead Warden and a dead Oghren BUT the death of Duncan is FINAL?

I mean I have nothing against it but if you have to retcon someone's death I'd rather it be Duncan's

Even if he survived Ostagar he would still be dead by DAI since he was near his calling in DAO.

and that is somehow more realistic than Oghren coming back from exploding as a walking bomb??????

Um Oggy could not die in DAO as far as I know, and even if he did how many times does it need to be said. THERE IS NO WALKING BOMB/DECAPITATION/WHATRVER flag. It's a "X was killed."

well that is hardly the point now is it? Dead is dead...

Gaider already confirmed he's dead and his role is over, and exactly how is supposed to have survived when his weapons were in the Orge that he killed, he could barely move due to him being hurt and exhausted and had a darkspawn charging at him with a 2 handed axe.

So? The writers seem to have no qualms with throwing logic out the window whenever it looks to inconvenience whatever contrived plot point they are trying justify at the time, why should it be any different for Duncan's survival?

Because Duncan would've been to his calling by now if he did survive

YOU ARENT LISTENING!

The Architect cured him of his callingnesssindrome or something.

There is no cure for the Taint and what the Architect does is rip away a Warden's Humanity and turns them into a twisted abomination.

Besides as every one has already pointed out.

He is dead so none of this matters anyway.

Like Duncan had any humanity to begin with.

There is no cure for death either however that didn't seem to stop Leliana or Anders.

Eh he never seemed that "inhuman" to me personally.

A Veteran Warrior with a pragmatic view of life and a sense of duty and commitment that makes his cause come before everything else?

Yes.

Besides in his younger days he wasn't espiecally all that diffrent, a bit more open and casual perhaps but the Duncan presented in the calling and the one in orgins were practically the same person.

Well Gaider confirmed him dead, unless if his Paymasters state otherwise i would take Gaider at his word.

And Anders actually gave a reasoning for his "Ressurection." Namely him never dying.

And true enough the Leliana retcon was annoying.

Because they've stated several times that he is dead in threads just like this. He is not coming back.

If you want to complain about Leliana or Anders, do it in a different thread.

He's pining for the fjords, I'm afraid. If you want to see Duncan, we'll have to slice open some darkspawn and fish his remains out of their guts.

You're rather aggressive, you know?

If you're looking for narrative reasons to support Duncan staying dead, I'd guess a big one would be the impact his death is meant to have in Origins - it's a mentor character dying, the catalyst for the player taking on responsibility as one of the last Wardens, and a demonstration of the power of the darkspawn.

The argument that the writers can just handwave death is all well and good, but they've done it for a purpose that's (apparently) meant to serve the larger story. Clearly, there are no plans for Duncan to appear in the larger story or serve a greater role than his appearance in Origins, so they won't be bringing him back. If the writers can't find a use for the character, there's no reason for his survival.

David already confirmed he's dead, and won't be in Inquisition.

Hey I am not complaining, merely pointing out facts and fact is the Dragon Age series isn't nearly as well written as some of you claim it to be.

Who is? This is a pointless thread right after you got the confirmation that Duncan was dead and not coming back. After this you've just complained about how other people come back. Just make a thread complaining about the writing and get rid of the pretense of doing anything else.

Complaining and pointing out are 2 entirely different things, I hear there are quite a few good online dictionaries if you are keen to learn the distinction.

Neither of which are the Premise of this thread.

I agree; If you want to point out flaws in the writing make another thread.

I have to admit, seeing zombie Duncan could be interesting if it is done right.

Alternatively Duncan could come back as:

We'll meet Duncan's spirit in the Golden/Black City, kicking ass against the taint.

OP once claimed that it was confirmed we'd only get to play hornless Qunari in DA:I.

Fairly positive he or she only posts to stir trouble.

And thank you for illustrating mine, if you are going to throw around accusations one would think you could at least provide some evidence to support them, perhaps it is you who is only here to stir trouble.

Well its obvious that this thread has been derailed.

Hopefully Moderation will lock it.
