Yes, definitely cunning. Sometimes it must be insanely high to open a lock. I know there's a mod for it, but it seems like a warrior should be able to lock bash. Those must be some really strong metals for a warrior to not be able to do that. :D

That is what i do, i never use Leliana for anything but the side-quests in Denerim, -if i want to do them.
For the chests around the game that are typically full of junk i use bash lock mod.
I think its a boring game feature to put a lock on chests, and silly at the same time,
i beat up a High Dragon single handedly but cant kick open a rotting wooden chest wtf ?!

Thx. At least DA: O is gonna be more like ME1 in terms of combat strategy. ME2 and ME3 were basically shoot-em-up games with RPG elements mixed in. I mean seriously? Any build and any squad set up can get through insanity with few problems if you know how to play...

If you're bothered by skilled players being able to use any party setup successfully on a game's hardest difficulty then I'd imagine you'll be disappointed to hear that Nightmare mode in DA:O can be soloed with pretty much any build.

I've completed all the ME games on Insanity without much trouble (OK the first one I think it was only on Hard but mainly because you had to replay the whole frickin game to unlock higher difficulties), and I struggle quite abit with DA:O on the Hard setting. It was excrutiating at first, but once you get access to a healer it becomes easier. Still has quite a few really tough battles, though. The difficulty level of Dragon Age is definately ALOT higher than ME!

EDIT
The console versions are supposedly much easier than the PC version.

Not if you're using a lot of custom armor like I do. :3 They tend to come with a lot of stats on them, so then that happens to make enemies die much faster haha

Obviously its going to be easier if you cheat,
hack yourself 100 Grimoire of the Frozen Wastes at beginning and you got 300 attribute points
to spend on constitution etc, equal to level 300 already at level 1,
must be awesome.
It is also possible to cheat on the fountains in fade, if you make a quick-save just as you stand at a fountain,
and begin right-clicking extremely fast on the fountain while the game is busy saving,
you can get, well, in theory endless amount of free stats, i think my personal record is around 40 on a single fountain,
and if you only got a few, you can always quick-load that save and give it another try.
This is also arguably not a cheat, but a game feature, or why else would it be part of the standard game ? :P

It's a glitch that can be exploited. While this isn't an MMO, it's still considered a cheat.

Someone has already mentioned getting a healer in your party as soon as possible; second is to spend a while understanding how the tactics systems works.  Once you get those two things down, the game is a cakewalk with the correct party composition ... otherwise it can will be an exercise in frustration when you get stuck on Zevran.

Or it might be one of those high difficulty/high reward optional quests implemented in many games,
i find it harder and demand more focus to get extra 20 attributes from a fountain,
than to beat up High Dragon solo in nightmare mode

Well, I started DA: O yesterday and I'm hooked. Figuring out how to micro-manage my team was tricky, but I'm getting the hang of it. Got a Madari war hound and I named him Smoey (tried to name him after my dog, but I forgot the 'k'). Got Sten, Alistair, Morrigan, Liliana (can't remember if I got the name right), and Smoey running around with me, killing anyone who gets in our way.

I went with the Dalish Elf as a rogue and found the intro interesting. My sister went with city elf as a warrior and I watched the beginning of her story, which I thought was fairly dramatic for a female elf. I'm in Denerim doing odd-jobs and getting money. I am trying to romance Morrigan, but I keep making poor choices in her mind (specifically cause I help people a lot and I sometimes make bad dialogue choices) so I have to make up the difference with gifts. I may end up switching to Liliana (still not sure about her name) if romancing Morrigan proves too difficult. You guys were right about the combat being more difficult than ME1. I'm getting the hang of it and getting better.
