Castillo does not rat her out to Hawke because he does not know about Hawke. Added there is no garantee Hawke would get what  Castillo wants, which is the book.

It would however cause Hawke to take a double take at her and potentially cause an arguement. It's a better chance than what he has facing him.

Plus he could just say it to be a douche.

Again, he does not know she is working with Hawke. And being a douche is one thing, screwing himself is another. Him telling Hawke about the book leaves a chance he screws himself, he not a personto go that far.

...He doesn't know she's working with Hawke after Hawke pops out of his/her hiding space and blatantly shows he knows Isabela.

Okay then.

But... that makes no sense. Hawke is literally the only source of immediate information on her departure. And it's nighttime, there aren't all that many people on the street; he could send a few qunari around, possibly accompanied by Hawke, to grill passersby on what exit Isabela took, after which he'd lead his troops that way.

I will admit that Aveline really, really didn't help.

Not perfect sense no. But what exactly would he have accomplished running around he hadn't been able to track her for 3 years. You think just because she got the book she'd instantly pop on his radar? No he's going have days tracking and getting information on where she went. Isabela isn't a fool she'd know how to cover her tracks. As for grilling passerbys. Yeah that'll go REAL well. Uh huh. You don't gather infromation in seconds when you have an army at your back.

What would he accomplish by hanging around in Kirkwall when the tome wasn't there? For that matter, every day he wastes trying to bring Kirkwall under submission, the further away Isabela gets; it's a waste of time no matter what.

What exactly do people think Isabella did to earn the title "Queen of the pirates" which I might add, no pirate contradicts and indeed, others confirm?

Really?

So let me see if I have this right.

Raiding/pillaging which would invariably require killing innocent people is a-ok, but throwing slaves off a ship (which she CLEARLY regrets and made her change as a person) invariably wrecks her character?

SERIOUSLY?

What would he accomplish by running off halfcocked with no information about where the Tome is?

She has to bring the Tome somewhere. Just because you start up in back of someone doesn't make it impossible to catch them.

All right... but again, conquering the city does not help this.

It's not supposed to help. He has no options. He's snapped.

Calling it a tantrum is ridiculous. The man was backed into a corner and snapped. He took years of abuse and couldn't stay quietly anymore.

If anything I find he seems to accept a suicide by Hawke by the time Hawke comes into the Vicount's chamber (at least if he respects Hawke). It's the only way he can see to attempt to meet the demand of the Qun or the quickest way at least. I doubt he expected to hold that city long.

I find this statement ironic given your icon of Xander from the Season 8 or 9 comics. But that's really not on topic.

This. Just. This.

I as a player did not need the game to tell me she was probably an awful person who was constantly lying to Hawke. If you have Zevran at the Pearl in Origins, she admits to having him kill her husband. She shows up in DA2 being dodgy about why exactly she's there. I extrapolated that she was untrustworthy and a murderer.

No, actually she implies the opposite with Zevran in the Pearl in DAO.

That was his choice. I'm sure the Qun would agree with me.

Clearly he was supposed to stay there like a martyr while his people were killed around him. How dare he snap and express emotion. How dare he.

I find it hard to sympathize with the people of Kirkwall when every five minutes I am

Yes because his people weren't being murdered at all for years for no reason other than fantaticism while those in power either helped them or were woefully incompetent.

Nope. Nuh uh. None of that happened.

It wasn't just Petrice, it was the general dysfunction and oppression of Kirkwall that got to him. He was provoked but it was still his decision to attack Kirkwall. Either way though, there are major factors in the Qunari attack that aren't the responsibility of Isabella.

honestly I am surprised you aren't a fan of the Qunari. The elimination of personal desire, ambition, conflict, etc... seems like a perfect fit to your Big Brother head canon for Control.

Well, at least, you could get rid of most of them by the end :P

XD

I totally picked Control because of Meer's bad ass speech. Paragon or renegade it's just so good.

Big Brother is watching. Always.

And this excuses leaving piles of corpses strewn throughout Lowtown and murdering random nobles in Hightown... how, precisely? As well as Dumar's murder?

Thus my usage of the word SNAPING. No it's not completely justified. It is to me however understandable after years in the cesspool that is Kirkwall he got damn tired of it and wanted it burned to the ground.

Dumar is the vicount right? The one who incompetently let the Qunari delegate be kidnapped right from his doorstep (thanks to him having their sword tied into their sheathes) allowing them to be burned to death by Peatrice?

Those were the same people repressing elves, ferelden refugees, waged a campaign against the qunari, among other lovely activities

Don't be ridiculous, they were tortured to death.

Honestly, I think Kirkwall was specifically designed to make people crazy. Wiping it off the map seems like the best solution.

And really, by the time he snaps, it makes sense for him to aggressively attempt to convert everyone (by invading). That's sort of what Qunari do. They're all about duty and order, and Kirkwall's this huge, twisty mess of chaos and corruption.

I'd have liked an option to have Isabella sell the tome to Tevinter and you work with them to remove the Qunari.....
